The rotating reference system, two-point correlation functions, and energy density are used as the basis for investigating thermal effects observed by a detector rotating through random classical zero-point radiation. The RS consists of Frenet -Serret orthogonal tetrads where the rotating detector is at rest and has a constant acceleration vector. The CFs and the energy density at the rotating reference system should be periodic with rotation period because CF and energy density measurements is one of the tools the detector can use to justify the periodicity of its motion. The CFs have been calculated for both electromagnetic and massless scalar fields in two cases, with and without taking this periodicity into consideration. It turned out that only periodic CFs have some thermal features and particularly the Plancks factor with the temperature T= h w /k . Regarding to the energy density of both electromagnetic and massless scalar field it is shown that the detector rotating in the zero-point radiation observes not only this original zero-point radiation but, above that, also the radiation which would have been observed by an inertial detector in the thermal bath with the Planks spectrum at the temperature T. This effect is masked by factor 2/3(4 gamma^2-1) for the electromagnetic field and 2/9 (4 gamma ^2-1) for the massless scalar field, where the Lorentz factor gamma=(1 - v^2 / c^2)^(1/2). Appearance of these masking factors is connected with the fact that rotation is defined by two parameters, angular velocity w and the radius of rotation, in contrast with a uniformly accelerated linear motion which is defined by only one parameter, acceleration a. Our calculations involve classical point of view only and to the best of our knowledge these results have not been reported in quantum theory yet.

Offshell electrodynamics based on a manifestly covariant off-shell relativistic dynamics of Stueckelberg, Horwitz and Piron, is five-dimensional. In this paper, we study the problem of radiation reaction of a particle in motion in this framework. In particular, the case of above-mass-shell is studied in detail, where the renormalization of the Lorentz force leads to a system of non-linear differential equations for 3 Lorentz scalars. The system is then solved numerically, where it is shown that the mass-shell deviation scalar $ve$ either smoothly falls down to 0 (this result provides a mechanism for the mass stability of the off-shell theory), or strongly diverges under more extreme conditions. In both cases, no runaway motion is observed. Stability analysis indicates that the system seems to have chaotic behavior in the divergent case. It is also shown that, although a motion under which the mass-shell deviation $ve$ is constant but not-zero, is indeed possible, but, it is unstable, and eventually it either decays to 0 or diverges.
Random plane wave is conjectured to be a universal model for high-energy eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator on generic compact Riemanian manifolds. This is known to be true on average. In the present paper we discuss one of important geometric ob servable: critical points. We first compute one-point function for the critical point process, in particular we compute the expected number of critical points inside any open set. After that we compute the short-range asymptotic behaviour of the two-point function. This gives an unexpected result that the second factorial moment of the number of critical points in a small disc scales as the fourth power of the radius.
We introduce and study the following model for random resonances: we take a collection of point interactions $Upsilon_j$ generated by a simple finite point process in the 3-D space and consider the resonances of associated random Schrodinger Hamilton ians $H_Upsilon = -Delta + ``sum mathfrak{m}(alpha) delta (x - Upsilon_j)``$. These resonances are zeroes of a random exponential polynomial, and so form a point process $Sigma (H_Upsilon)$ in the complex plane $mathbb{C}$. We show that the counting function for the set of random resonances $Sigma (H_Upsilon)$ in $mathbb{C}$-discs with growing radii possesses Weyl-type asymptotics almost surely for a uniform binomial process $Upsilon$, and obtain an explicit formula for the limiting distribution as $m to infty$ of the leading parameter of the asymptotic chain of `most narrow resonances generated by a sequence of uniform binomial processes $Upsilon^m$ with $m$ points. We also pose a general question about the limiting behavior of the point process formed by leading parameters of asymptotic sequences of resonances. Our study leads to questions about metric characteristics for the combinatorial geometry of $m$ samples of a random point in the 3-D space and related statistics of extreme values.
In the last few years, the supersymmetry method was generalized to real-symmetric, Hermitean, and Hermitean self-dual random matrices drawn from ensembles invariant under the orthogonal, unitary, and unitary symplectic group, respectively. We extend this supersymmetry approach to chiral random matrix theory invariant under the three chiral unitary groups in a unifying way. Thereby we generalize a projection formula providing a direct link and, hence, a `short cut between the probability density in ordinary space and the one in superspace. We emphasize that this point was one of the main problems and critiques of the supersymmetry method since only implicit dualities between ordinary and superspace were known before. As examples we apply this approach to the calculation of the supersymmetric analogue of a Lorentzian (Cauchy) ensemble and an ensemble with a quartic potential. Moreover we consider the partially quenched partition function of the three chiral Gaussian ensembles corresponding to four-dimensional continuum QCD. We identify a natural splitting of the chiral Lagrangian in its lowest order into a part of the physical mesons and a part associated to source terms generating the observables, e.g. the level density of the Dirac operator.
We make a brief review of the Kramers escape rate theory for the probabilistic motion of a particle in a potential well U(x), and under the influence of classical fluctuation forces. The Kramers theory is extended in order to take into account the ac tion of the thermal and zero-point random electromagnetic fields on a charged particle. The result is physically relevant because we get a non null escape rate over the potential barrier at low temperatures (T -> 0). It is found that, even if the mean energy is much smaller than the barrier height, the classical particle can escape from the potential well due to the action of the zero-point fluctuating fields. These stochastic effects can be used to give a classical interpretation to some quantum tunneling phenomena. Relevant experimental data are used to illustrate the theoretical results.
