We investigate the continuum limit scaling of the scalar condensate in the $N_f=2$ Schwinger model on the lattice. We employ maximally twisted mass Wilson fermions and overlap fermions. We compute the scalar condensate by taking the trace of the prop agator (direct method) and by utilizing the integrated Ward-Takahashi identity. While the scalar condensate comes out consistent using these two methods for a given kind of lattice fermions, we find --quite surprisingly-- large discrepancies for the scalar condensate between twisted mass and overlap fermions. These discrepancies are only resolved when using the point split current for twisted mass fermions.

In three-dimensional QED, which is analyzed in the 1/$N$ expansion, we obtain a sufficient and necessary condition for a nontrivial solution of the Dyson-Schwinger equation to be chiral symmetry breaking solution. In the derivation, a normalization c ondition of the Goldstone bound state is used. It is showed that the existent analytical solutions satisfy this condition.
Two-dimensional QED with $N$ flavor fermions is solved at zero and finite temperature with arbitrary fermion masses to explore QCD physics such as chiral condensate and string tension. The problem is reduced to solving a Schrodinger equation for $N$ degrees of freedom with a specific potential determined by the ground state of the Schrodinger problem itself.
In this paper we extend the nonabelian mirror proposal of two of the authors from two-dimensional gauge theories with connected gauge groups to the case of O(k) gauge groups with discrete theta angles. We check our proposed extension by counting and comparing vacua in mirrors to known dual two-dimensional (S)O(k) gauge theories. The mirrors in question are Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds, and for mirrors to O(k) gauge theories, the critical loci of the mirror superpotential often intersect fixed-point loci, so that to count vacua, one must take into account twisted sector contributions. This is a technical novelty relative to mirrors of gauge theories with connected gauge groups, for which critical loci do not intersect fixed-point loci and so no orbifold twisted sector contributions are pertinent. The vacuum computations turn out to be a rather intricate test of the proposed mirrors, in particular as untwisted sector states in the mirror to one theory are often exchanged with twisted sector states in the mirror to the dual. In cases with nontrivial IR limits, we also check that central charges computed from the Landau-Ginzburg mirrors match those expected for the IR SCFTs.
We construct a tensor network representation of the partition function for the massless Schwinger model on a two dimensional lattice using staggered fermions. The tensor network representation allows us to include a topological term. Using a particul ar implementation of the tensor renormalization group (HOTRG) we calculate the phase diagram of the theory. For a range of values of the coupling to the topological term $theta$ and the gauge coupling $beta$ we compare with results from hybrid Monte Carlo when possible and find good agreement.
