In previous work we showed that the Hurwitz space of W(E_6)-covers of the projective line branched over 24 points dominates via the Prym-Tyurin map the moduli space A_6 of principally polarized abelian 6-folds. Here we determine the 25 Hodge classes on the Hurwitz space of W(E_6)-covers corresponding to the 25 irreducible representations of the Weyl group W(E_6). This result has direct implications to the intersection theory of the toroidal compactification A_6. In the final part of the paper, we present an alternative, elementary proof of our uniformization result on A_6 via Prym-Tyurin varieties of type W(E_6).

In this paper, we discuss the cycle theory on moduli spaces $cF_h$ of $h$-polarized hyperkahler manifolds. Firstly, we construct the tautological ring on $cF_h$ following the work of Marian, Oprea and Pandharipande on the tautological conjecture on m oduli spaces of K3 surfaces. We study the tautological classes in cohomology groups and prove that most of them are linear combinations of Noether-Lefschetz cycle classes. In particular, we prove the cohomological version of the tautological conjecture on moduli space of K3$^{[n]}$-type hyperkahler manifolds with $nleq 2$. Secondly, we prove the cohomological generalized Franchetta conjecture on universal family of these hyperkahler manifolds.
We show that the cobordism class of a polarization of Hodge module defines a natural transformation from the Grothendieck group of Hodge modules to the cobordism group of self-dual bounded complexes with real coefficients and constructible cohomology sheaves in a compatible way with pushforward by proper morphisms. This implies a new proof of the well-definedness of the natural transformation from the Grothendieck group of varieties over a given variety to the above cobordism group (with real coefficients). As a corollary, we get a slight extension of a conjecture of Brasselet, Schurmann and Yokura, showing that in the $bf Q$-homologically isolated singularity case, the homology $L$-class which is the specialization of the Hirzebruch class coincides with the intersection complex $L$-class defined by Goresky, MacPherson, and others if and only if the sum of the reduced Euler-Hodge signatures of the stalks of the shifted intersection complex vanishes. Here Hodge signature uses a polarization of Hodge structure, and it does not seem easy to define it by a purely topological method.

A fine moduli space is constructed, for cyclic-by-$mathsf{p}$ covers of an affine curve over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $mathsf{p}>0$. An intersection of finitely many fine moduli spaces for cyclic-by-$mathsf{p}$ covers of af fine curves gives a moduli space for $mathsf{p}$-by-$mathsf{p}$ covers of an affine curve. A local moduli space is also constructed, for cyclic-by-$mathsf{p}$ covers of $Spec(k((x)))$, which is the same as the global moduli space for cyclic-by-$mathsf{p}$ covers of $mathbb{P}^1-{0}$ tamely ramified over $infty$ with the same Galois group. Then it is shown that a restriction morphism is finite with degrees on connected components $mathsf{p}$ powers: There are finitely many deleted points of an affine curve from its smooth completion. A cyclic-by-$mathsf{p}$ cover of an affine curve gives a product of local covers with the same Galois group of the punctured infinitesimal neighbourhoods of the deleted points. So there is a restriction morphism from the global moduli space to a product of local moduli spaces.

Let $X$ be a smooth projective curve of genus $ggeq 2$ over the complex numbers. A holomorphic triple $(E_1,E_2,phi)$ on $X$ consists of two holomorphic vector bundles $E_1$ and $E_2$ over $X$ and a holomorphic map $phi:E_2 to E_1$. There is a concep t of stability for triples which depends on a real parameter $sigma$. In this paper, we determine the Hodge polynomials of the moduli spaces of $sigma$-stable triples with $rk(E_1)=3$, $rk(E_2)=1$, using the theory of mixed Hodge structures. This gives in particular the Poincare polynomials of these moduli spaces. As a byproduct, we recover the Hodge polynomial of the moduli space of odd degree rank 3 stable vector bundles.
Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface and $D$ an effective divisor on $X$. Let ${mathcal N}_H(r,d)$ denote the moduli space of $D$-twisted stable Higgs bundles (a special class of Hitchin pairs) on $X$ of rank $r$ and degree $d$. It is known that ${mathcal N}_H(r,d)$ has a natural holomorphic Poisson structure which is in fact symplectic if and only if $D$ is the zero divisor. We prove that ${mathcal N}_H(r,d)$ admits a natural enhancement to a holomorphic symplectic manifold which is called here ${mathcal M}_H(r,d)$. This ${mathcal M}_H(r,d)$ is constructed by trivializing, over $D$, the restriction of the vector bundles underlying the $D$-twisted Higgs bundles; such objects are called here as framed Higgs bundles. We also investigate the symplectic structure on the moduli space ${mathcal M}_H(r,d)$ of framed Higgs bundles as well as the Hitchin system associated to it.
