We study the class of all finite directed graphs up to primitive positive constructability. The resulting order has a unique greatest element, namely the graph $P_1$ with one vertex and no edges. The graph $P_1$ has a unique greatest lower bound, namely the graph $P_2$ with two vertices and one directed edge. Our main result is a complete description of the greatest lower bounds of $P_2$; we call these graphs submaximal. We show that every graph that is not equivalent to $P_1$ and $P_2$ is below one of the submaximal graphs.

The rank of a graph is defined to be the rank of its adjacency matrix. A graph is called reduced if it has no isolated vertices and no two vertices with the same set of neighbors. A reduced graph $G$ is said to be maximal if any reduced graph contain ing $G$ as a proper induced subgraph has a higher rank. The main intent of this paper is to present some results on maximal graphs. First, we introduce a characterization of maximal trees (a reduced tree is a maximal tree if it is not a proper subtree of a reduced tree with the same rank). Next, we give a near-complete characterization of maximal `generalized friendship graphs. Finally, we present an enumeration of all maximal graphs with ranks $8$ and $9$. The ranks up to $7$ were already done by Lepovic (1990), Ellingham (1993), and Lazic (2010).

Let $mathfrak{n}$ be a nonempty, proper, convex subset of $mathbb{C}$. The $mathfrak{n}$-maximal operators are defined as the operators having numerical ranges in $mathfrak{n}$ and are maximal with this property. Typical examples of these are the max imal symmetric (or accretive or dissipative) operators, the associated to some sesquilinear forms (for instance, to closed sectorial forms), and the generators of some strongly continuous semi-groups of bounded operators. In this paper the $mathfrak{n}$-maximal operators are studied and some characterizations of these in terms of the resolvent set are given.

Algebras generated by strictly positive matrices are described up to similarity, including the commutative, simple, and semisimple cases. We provide sufficient conditions for some block diagonal matrix algebras to be generated by a set of nonnegative matrices up to similarity. Also we find all realizable dimensions of algebras generated by two nonnegative semi-commuting matrices. The last result provides the solution to the problem posed by M. Kandi{c}, K. v{S}ivic (2017).

We show a collection of scripts, called $G$-strongly positive scripts, which is used to recognize critical configurations of a chip firing game (CFG) on a multi-digraph with a global sink. To decrease the time of the process of recognition caused by the stabilization we present an algorithm to find the minimum G-strongly positive script. From that we prove the non-stability of configurations obtained from a critical configuration by firing inversely any non-empty multi-subset of vertices. This result is a generalization of a very recent one by Aval emph{et.al} which is applied for CFG on undirected graphs. Last, we give a combinatorial proof for the duality between critical and super-stable configurations.
The dichromatic number of a digraph $D$ is the minimum number of colors needed to color its vertices in such a way that each color class induces an acyclic digraph. As it generalizes the notion of the chromatic number of graphs, it has been a recent center of study. In this work we look at possible extensions of Gyarfas-Sumner conjecture. More precisely, we propose as a conjecture a simple characterization of finite sets $mathcal F$ of digraphs such that every oriented graph with sufficiently large dichromatic number must contain a member of $mathcal F$ as an induce subdigraph. Among notable results, we prove that oriented triangle-free graphs without a directed path of length $3$ are $2$-colorable. If condition of triangle-free is replaced with $K_4$-free, then we have an upper bound of $414$. We also show that an orientation of complete multipartite graph with no directed triangle is 2-colorable. To prove these results we introduce the notion of emph{nice sets} that might be of independent interest.
