We argue that in models with several high scales; e.g. in composite Higgs models or in gauge extensions of the Standard Model (SM), vector-like leptons can be likely produced in a relatively large $sqrt{s}$ region of the phase space. Likewise, they can easily decay into final states not containing SM gauge bosons. This contrasts with the topology in which these new particles are being searched for at the LHC. Adopting an effective field theory approach, we show that searches for excited leptons must be used instead to test this scenario. We derive bounds on all the relevant interactions of dimension six; the most constrained ones being of about $0.05$ TeV$^{-2}$. We build new observables to improve current analyses and study the impact on all single-field UV completions of the SM extended with a vector-like lepton that can be captured by the effective field theory at tree level, in the current and in the high-luminosity phase of the LHC.

We study a model with a down-type SU(2) singlet vector-like quark (VLQ) as a minimal extension of the standard model (SM). In this model, flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) arise at tree level and the unitarity of the $3times 3$ Cabibbo-Kobayas hi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix does not hold. In this paper, we constrain the FCNC coupling from $brightarrow s$ transitions, especially $B_srightarrow mu^+mu^-$ and $bar{B}rightarrow X_sgamma$ processes. In order to analyze these processes, we derive an effective Lagrangian which is valid below the electroweak symmetry breaking scale. For this purpose, we first integrate out the VLQ field and derive an effective theory by matching Wilson coefficients up to one-loop level. Using the effective theory, we construct the effective Lagrangian for $brightarrow sgamma^{(*)}$. It includes the effects of the SM quarks and the violation of the CKM unitarity. We show the constraints on the magnitude of the FCNC coupling and its phase by taking account of the current experimental data on $Delta M_{B_s}$, $mathrm{Br}[B_srightarrowmu^+mu^-]$, $mathrm{Br}[bar{B}rightarrow X_sgamma]$ and CKM matrix elements as well as theoretical uncertainties. We find that the constraint from the $mathrm{Br}[B_srightarrowmu^+mu^-]$ is more stringent than that from the $mathrm{Br}[bar{B}rightarrow X_sgamma$]. We also obtain the bound for the mass of the VLQ and the strength of the Yukawa couplings related to the FCNC coupling of $brightarrow s$ transition. Using the CKM elements which satisfy above constraints, we show how the unitarity is violated on the complex plane.
We study a supersymmetric extension of the vector-like lepton scenario, such that the vacuum instability induced by large lepton Yukawa couplings is lifted by the presence of superpartners at or below the TeV scale. In order to preserve the unificati on of gauge couplings, we introduce a full 16+bar{16} of SO(10), and determine the maximal possible values for the Yukawa couplings consistent with perturbativity at the GUT scale. We find that the Higgs to diphoton decay rate can be enhanced by up to 50% while maintaining vacuum stability and keeping the new particle masses above 100 GeV, while larger enhancements are possible if the masses of the new particles are lowered further.
We investigate collider signatures of standard model extensions featuring vector-like leptons and a flavorful scalar sector. Such a framework arises naturally within asymptotically safe model building, which tames the UV behavior of the standard mode l towards the Planck scale and beyond. We focus on values of Yukawa couplings and masses which allow to explain the present data on the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments. Using a CMS search based on $77.4 , rm{fb}^{-1}$ at the $sqrt{s}=13$ TeV LHC we find that flavorful vector-like leptons are excluded for masses below around $300$ GeV if they are singlets under $SU(2)_L$, and around $800$ GeV if they are doublets. Exploiting the flavor-violating-like decays of the scalars, we design novel null test observables based on opposite sign opposite flavor invariant masses. These multi-lepton distributions allow to signal new physics and to extract mass hierarchies in reach of near-future searches at the LHC and the HL-LHC.
We study the $S_3$-symmetric two Higgs doublet model by adding two generations of vector like leptons (VLL) which are odd under a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. The lightest neutral component of the VLL acts as a dark matter (DM) whereas the full VLL set b elongs to a dark sector with no mixings allowed with the standard model fermions. We analyse the model in light of dark matter and collider searches. We show that the DM is compatible with the current relic density data as well as satisfying all direct and indirect dark matter search constraints. We choose some representative points in the model parameter space allowed by all aforementioned dark matter constraints and present a detailed collider analysis of multi-lepton signal viz. the mono-lepton, di-lepton, tri-lepton and four-lepton along with missing transverse energy in the final state using both the cut-based analysis and multivariate analysis respectively at the high luminosity 14 TeV LHC run.

We study the leading effective interactions between the Standard Model fields and a generic singlet CP-odd (pseudo)Goldstone boson. Two possible frameworks for electroweak symmetry breaking are considered: linear and non-linear. For the latter case, the basis of leading effective operators is determined and compared with that for the linear expansion. Associated phenomenological signals at colliders are explored for both scenarios, deriving new bounds and analyzing future prospects, including LHC and High Luminosity LHC sensitivities. Mono-$Z$, mono-$W$, $W$-photon plus missing energy and on-shell top final states are most promising signals expected in both frameworks. In addition, non-standard Higgs decays and mono-Higgs signatures are especially prominent and expected to be dominant in non-linear realizations.
