We revisit and comment on the Harnack type determinantal inequality for contractive matrices obtained by Tung in the nineteen sixtieth and give an extension of the inequality involving multiple positive semidefinite matrices.

Let $A$ be a positive semidefinite $mtimes m$ block matrix with each block $n$-square, then the following determinantal inequality for partial traces holds [ (mathrm{tr} A)^{mn} - det(mathrm{tr}_2 A)^n ge bigl| det A - det(mathrm{tr}_1 A)^m bigr|, ] where $mathrm{tr}_1$ and $mathrm{tr}_2$ stand for the first and second partial trace, respectively. This result improves a recent result of Lin [14].

Following the recent work of Jiang and Lin (Linear Algebra Appl. 585 (2020) 45--49), we present more results (bounds) on Harnack type inequalities for matrices in terms of majorization (i.e., in partial products) of eigenvalues and singular values. W e discuss and compare the bounds derived through different ways. Jiang and Lins results imply Tungs version of Harnacks inequality (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 15 (1964) 375--381); our results %with simpler proofs are stronger and more general than Jiang and Lins. We also show some majorization inequalities concerning Cayley transforms. Some open problems on spectral norm and eigenvalues are proposed.

This paper proves the strong parabolic Harnack inequality for local weak solutions to the heat equation associated with time-dependent (nonsymmetric) bilinear forms. The underlying metric measure Dirichlet space is assumed to satisfy the volume doubl ing condition, the strong Poincare inequality, and a cutoff Sobolev inequality. The metric is not required to be geodesic. Further results include a weighted Poincare inequality, as well as upper and lower bounds for non-symmetric heat kernels.
We give a direct analytic proof of the classical Boundary Harnack inequality for solutions to linear uniformly elliptic equations in either divergence or non-divergence form.

The paper studies the sampling discretization problem for integral norms on subspaces of $L^p(mu)$. Several close to optimal results are obtained on subspaces for which certain Nikolskii-type inequality is valid. The problem of norms discretization i s connected with the probabilistic question about the approximation with high probability of marginals of a high dimensional random vector by sampling. As a byproduct of our approach we refine the result of O. Gu$acute{e}$don and M. Rudelson concerning the approximation of marginals. In particular, the obtained improvement recovers a theorem of J. Bourgain, J. Lindenstrauss, and V. Milman concerning embeddings of finite dimensional subspaces of $L^p[0, 1]$ into $ell_p^m$. The proofs in the paper use the recent developments of the chaining technique by R. van Handel.
