We study sample-to-sample fluctuations in a critical two-dimensional Ising model with quenched random ferromagnetic couplings. Using replica calculations in the renormalization group framework we derive explicit expressions for the probability distribution function of the critical internal energy and for the specific heat fluctuations. It is shown that the disorder distribution of internal energies is Gaussian, and the typical sample-to-sample fluctuations as well as the average value scale with the system size $L$ like $sim L lnln(L)$. In contrast, the specific heat is shown to be self-averaging with a distribution function that tends to a $delta$-peak in the thermodynamic limit $L to infty$. While previously a lack of self-averaging was found for the free energy, we here obtain results for quantities that are directly measurable in simulations, and implications for measurements in the actual lattice system are discussed.

We investigate and contrast, via the Wang-Landau (WL) algorithm, the effects of quenched bond randomness on the self-averaging properties of two Ising spin models in 2d. The random bond version of the superantiferromagnetic (SAF) square model with ne arest- and next-nearest-neighbor competing interactions and the corresponding version of the simple ferromagnetic Ising model are studied. We find that, the random bond SAF model shows a strong violation of self-averaging, much stronger than that observed in the case of the random bond Ising model. Our analysis of the asymptotic scaling behavior of the variance of the distribution of the sample-dependent pseudocritical temperatures is found to be consistent with the renormalization group prediction of Aharony and Harris. Using this alternative approach, we find estimates of the correlation length exponent $ u$ in agreement with results obtained from the usual finite-size scaling (FSS) methodology.

We investigate, by means of extensive Monte Carlo simulations, the magnetic critical behavior of the three-dimensional bimodal random-field Ising model at the strong disorder regime. We present results in favor of the two-exponent scaling scenario, $ bar{eta}=2eta$, where $eta$ and $bar{eta}$ are the critical exponents describing the power-law decay of the connected and disconnected correlation functions and we illustrate, using various finite-size measures and properly defined noise to signal ratios, the strong violation of self-averaging of the model in the ordered phase.
We investigated the Ising model on a square lattice with ferro and antiferromagnetic interactions modulated by the quasiperiodic Octonacci sequence in both directions of the lattice. We have applied the Replica Exchange Monte Carlo (Parallel Temperin g) technique to calculate the thermodynamic quantities of the system. We obtained the order parameter, the associated magnetic susceptibility ($chi$) and the specific heat $(c)$ in order to characterize the universality class of the phase transition. Also, we use the finite size scaling method to obtain the critical temperature of the system and the critical exponents $beta$, $gamma$ and $ u$. In the low temperature limit we have obtained a continuous transition with critical temperature around $T_{c} approx 1.413$. The system obeys the Ising universality class with logarithmic corrections. We found estimatives for the correction exponents $hat{beta}$, $hat{gamma}$ and $hat{lambda}$ by using the finite size scaling technique.
We provide a non-trivial test of supersymmetry in the random-field Ising model at five spatial dimensions, by means of extensive zero-temperature numerical simulations. Indeed, supersymmetry relates correlation functions in a D-dimensional disordered system with some other correlation functions in a D-2 clean system. We first show how to check these relationships in a finite-size scaling calculation, and then perform a high-accuracy test. While the supersymmetric predictions are satisfied even to our high-accuracy at D=5, they fail to describe our results at D=4.

In the two-dimensional Ising model weak random surface field is predicted to be a marginally irrelevant perturbation at the critical point. We study this question by extensive Monte Carlo simulations for various strength of disorder. The calculated e ffective (temperature or size dependent) critical exponents fit with the field-theoretical results and can be interpreted in terms of the predicted logarithmic corrections to the pure systems critical behaviour.
