We study a possible superconductivity in quasiperiodic systems, by portraying the issue within the attractive Hubbard model on a Penrose lattice. Applying a real-space dynamical mean-field theory to the model consisting of 4181 sites, we find a superconducting phase at low temperatures. Reflecting the nonperiodicity of the Penrose lattice, the superconducting state exhibits an inhomogeneity. According to the type of the inhomogeneity, the superconducting phase is categorized into three different regions which cross over each other. Among them, the weak-coupling region exhibits spatially extended Cooper pairs, which are nevertheless distinct from the conventional pairing of two electrons with opposite momenta.

Superconductivity arises from two distinct quantum phenomena: electron pairing and long-range phase coherence. In conventional superconductors, the two quantum phenomena generally take place simultaneously, while the electron pairing occurs at higher temperature than the long-range phase coherence in the underdoped high-Tc cuprate superconductors. Recently, whether electron pairing is also prior to long-range phase coherence in single-layer FeSe film on SrTiO3 substrate is under debate. Here, by measuring Knight shift and nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate, we unambiguously reveal a pseudogap behavior below Tp ~ 60 K in two layered FeSe-based superconductors with quasi-two-dimension. In the pseudogap regime, a weak diamagnetic signal and a remarkable Nernst effect are also observed, which indicate that the observed pseudogap behavior is related to superconducting fluctuations. These works confirm that strong phase fluctuation is an important character in the two-dimensional iron-based superconductors as widely observed in high-Tc cuprate superconductors.
Using a proper cooling procedure, a controllable amount of non-magnetic structural disorder can be introduced at low temperature in (TMTSF)2ClO4. Here we performed simultaneous measurements of transport and magnetic properties of (TMTSF)2ClO4 in its normal and superconducting states, while finely covering three orders of magnitude of the cooling rate around the anion ordering temperature. Our result reveals, with increasing density of disorder, the existence of a crossover between homogeneous defect-controlled d-wave superconductivity and granular superconductivity. At slow cooling rates, with small amount of disorder, the evolution of superconducting properties is well described with the Abrikosov-Gorkov theory, providing further confirmation of non-s-wave pairing in this compound. In contrast, at fast cooling rates, zero resistance and diamagnetic shielding are achieved through a randomly distributed network of superconducting puddles embedded in an normal conducting background and interconnected by proximity effect coupling. The temperature dependence of the AC complex susceptibility reveals features typical for a network of granular superconductors. This makes (TMTSF)2ClO4 a model system for granular superconductivity where the grain size and their concentration are tunable within the same sample.
We theoretically show that a two-band system with very different masses harbors a resonant pair scattering that leads to novel pairing properties, as highlighted by the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) to Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) crossover. Mo st importantly, the interband pair-exchange coupling induces an effective intraband attraction in each band, enhancing the superfluidity/superconductivity. The effect, a kind of Suhl-Kondo mechanism, is specifically enhanced when the second band has a heavy mass and is incipient (lying close to, but just above, the chemical potential, $mu$), which we call a resonant pair scattering. By elucidating the dependence of the effective interactions and gap functions on $mu$, we can draw an analogy between the resonant pair scattering and the Feshbach resonance.
We investigate the non-equilibrium behavior of BCS superconductors subjected to slow ramps of their internal interaction strength. We identify three dynamical regimes as a function of ramp duration. For short ramp times, these systems become non-supe rconducting; however, fermions with opposite momenta remain paired albeit with reduced amplitudes, and the associated pair amplitude distribution is non-thermal. In this first regime, the disappearance of superconductivity is due to the loss of phase coherence between pairs. By contrast, for intermediate ramp times, superconductivity survives but the magnitude of the order parameter is reduced and presents long-lived oscillations. Finally, for long ramp times, phase coherence is almost fully retained during the slow interaction quench, and the steady-state is characterized by a thermal-like pair amplitude distribution. Using this approach, one can therefore dynamically tune the coherence between pairs in order to control the magnitude of the superconducting order parameter and even engineer a non-equilibrium state made of pre-formed pairs.
We study attractively interacting spin-1/2 fermions on the square lattice subject to a spin population imbalance. Using unbiased diagrammatic Monte Carlo simulations we find an extended region in the parameter space where the Fermi liquid is unstable towards formation of Cooper pairs with non-zero center-of-mass momentum, known as the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state. In contrast to earlier mean-field and quasi-classical studies we provide quantitative and well-controlled predictions on the existence and location of the relevant Fermi-liquid instabilities. The highest temperature where the FFLO instability can be observed is about half of the superfluid transition temperature in the unpolarized system.
