We study here, using the Mannheim-Kazanas solution of Weyl conformal theory, the mass decomposition in the representative subsample of $57$ early-type elliptical lens galaxies of the SLACS on board the HST. We begin by showing that the solution need not be an exclusive solution of conformal gravity but can also be viewed as a solution of a class of $f(R)$ gravity theories coupled to non-linear electrodynamics thereby rendering the ensuing results more universal. Since lensing involves light bending, we shall first show that the solution adds to Schwarzschild light bending caused by the luminous mass ($M_{ast }$) a positive contribution $+gamma R$ contrary to the previous results in the literature, thereby resolving a long standing problem. The cause of the error is critically examined. Applying the expressions for light bending together with an input equating Einstein and Weyl angles, we develop a novel algorithm for separating the luminous component from the total lens mass (luminous+dark) within the Einstein radius. Our results indicate that the luminous mass estimates differ from the observed total lens masses by a linear proportionality factor. In quantitative detail, we observe that the ratios of luminous over total lens mass ($f^{ast }$) within the Einstein radius of individual galaxies take on values near unity, many of which remarkably fall inside or just marginally outside the specified error bars obtained from a simulation based on the Bruzual-Charlot stellar population synthesis model together with the Salpeter IMF favored on the ground of metallicity [Grillo,2009]. We shall also calculate the average dark matter density of individual galaxies within their respective Einstein spheres. The present approach, being truly analytic, seems to be the first of its kind attempting to provide a new decomposition scheme distinct from the simulational ones.

The conformal gravity fit to observed galactic rotation curves requires {gamma}>0. On the other hand, conventional method for light deflection by galaxies gives a negative contribution to Schwarzschild value for {gamma}>0, which is contrary to observ ation. Thus, it is very important that the contribution to bending should in principle be positive, no matter how small its magnitude is. Here we show that the Rindler-Ishak method gives a positive contribution to Schwarzschild deflection for {gamma}>0, as desired. We also obtain the exact local coupling term derived earlier by Sereno. These results indicate that conformal gravity can potentially test well against all astrophysical observations to date.
We discuss, without assuming asymptotic flatness, a gravitational lens for an observer and source that are within a finite distance from a lens object. The proposed lens equation is consistent with the deflection angle of light that is defined for no nasymptotic observer and source by Takizawa et al. [Phys. Rev. D 101, 104032 (2020)] based on the Gauss-Bonnet theorem with using the optical metric. This lens equation, though it is shown to be equivalent to the Bozza lens equation[Phys. Rev. D 78, 103005 (2008)], is linear in the deflection angle. Therefore, the proposed equation is more convenient for the purpose of doing an iterative analysis. As an explicit example of an asymptotically nonflat spacetime, we consider a static and spherically symmetric solution in Weyl conformal gravity, especially a case that $gamma$ parameter in the Weyl gravity model is of the order of the inverse of the present Hubble radius. For this case, we examine iterative solutions for the finite-distance lens equation up to the third order. The effect of the Weyl gravity on the lensed image position begins at the third order and it is linear in the impact parameter of light. The deviation of the lensed image position from the general relativistic one is $sim 10^{-2}$ microarcsecond for the lens and source with a separation angle of $sim 1$ arcminute, where we consider a cluster of galaxies with $10^{14} M_{odot}$ at $sim 1$ Gpc for instance. The deviation becomes $sim 10^{-1}$ microarcseconds, even if the separation angle is $sim 10$ arcminutes. Therefore, effects of the Weyl gravity model are negligible in current and near-future observations of gravitational lensing. On the other hand, the general relativistic corrections at the third order $sim 0.1$ milliarcseconds can be relevant with VLBI observations.
The field equations of Mannheims theory of conformal gravity with dynamic mass generation are solved numerically in the interior and exterior regions of a model spherically symmetric sun with matched boundary conditions at the surface. The model cons ists of a generic fermion field inside the sun, and a scalar Higgs field in both the interior and exterior regions. From the conformal geodesic equations it is shown how an asymptotic gradient in the Higgs field causes an anomalous radial acceleration in qualitative agreement with that observed on the Pioneer 10/11, Galileo, and Ulysses spacecraft. At the same time the standard solar system tests of general relativity are preserved within the limits of observation.
The nature of the scalar field responsible for the cosmological inflation, the qo{inflaton}, is found to be rooted in the most fundamental concept of the Weyls differential geometry: the parallel displacement of vectors in curved space-time. The Eule r-Lagrange theory based on a scalar-tensor Weyl-Dirac Lagrangian leads straightforwardly to the Einstein equation admitting as a source the characteristic energy-momentum tensor of the inflaton field. Within the dynamics of the inflation, e.g. in the slow roll transition from a qo{false} toward a qo{true vacuum}, the inflatons geometry implies a temperature driven symmetry change between a highly symmetrical qo{Weylan} to a low symmetry qo{Riemannian} scenario. Since the dynamics of the Weyl curvature scalar, constructed over differentials of the inflaton field, has been found to account for the quantum phenomenology at the microscopic scale, the present work suggests interesting connections between the qo{micro} and the qo{macro} aspects of our Universe.

We consider the gravitational radiation in conformal gravity theory. We perturb the metric from flat Mikowski space and obtain the wave equation after introducing the appropriate transformation for perturbation. We derive the effective energy-momentu m tensor for the gravitational radiation, which can be used to determine the energy carried by gravitational waves.
