Raman spectroscopy is used to study magnetic excitations in the quasi one dimensional $S=1/2$ quantum spin systems Cu(Qnx)(Cl$_{1-x}$Br$_x$)$_2$. The low energy spectrum is found to be dominated by a two-magnon continuum as expected from the numerical calculations for the Heisenberg spin ladder model. The continuum shifts to higher energies as more Br is introduced. The cutoff of the scattering increases faster than the onset indicating that the increase of exchange constant along the leg is the main effect on the magnetic properties. The upper and lower continuum thresholds are measured as a function of Br content across the entire range and compared to estimates based on previous bulk studies. We observe small systematic deviations that are discussed.
Spin-lattice relaxation rate $T_1^{-1}$ of $^1$H-NMR has been measured in (CH$_3$)$_2$CHNH$_3$Cu(Cl$_x$Br$_{1-x}$)$_3$ with $x=0.88$, which has been reported to be gapped system with singlet ground state from the previous macroscopic magnetization an
The quantum-spin S = 1=2 chain system Cs$_2$CuCl$_4$ is of high interest due to competing anti-ferromagnetic intra-chain J and inter-chain exchange J interactions and represents a paramount example for Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons [R. Coldea
Magnetic excitations of the recently discovered frustrated spin-1/2 two-leg ladder system Li$_2$Cu$_2$O(SO$_4$)$_2$ are investigated using inelastic neutron scattering, magnetic susceptibility and infrared absorption measurements. Despite the presenc
Inelastic neutron scattering is used to investigate the temperature dependence of spin correlations in the 3-dimensional XY antiferromagnet Ni(Cl$_{1-x}$Br$_x$)$_2$$cdot$4SC(NH$_2$)$_2$, $ x = 0.14(1)$, tuned close to the chemical-composition-induced
We studied the magnetic properties of YCu$_3$(OH)$_6$Br$_2$[Br$_{1-x}$(OH)$_{x}$] ($x$ = 0.33 and 0.45), where Cu$^{2+}$ ions form two-dimensional kagome layers. There is no magnetic order down to 50 mK while the Curie-Weiss temperature is in the ord
