We study charged particle production in proton-antiproton collisions at 300 GeV, 900 GeV, and 1.96 TeV. We use the direction of the charged particle with the largest transverse momentum in each event to define three regions of eta-phi space; toward, away, and transverse. The average number and the average scalar pT sum of charged particles in the transverse region are sensitive to the modeling of the underlying event. The transverse region is divided into a MAX and MIN transverse region, which helps separate the hard component (initial and final-state radiation) from the beam-beam remnant and multiple parton interaction components of the scattering. The center-of-mass energy dependence of the various components of the event are studied in detail. The data presented here can be used to constrain and improve QCD Monte Carlo models, resulting in more precise predictions at the LHC energies of 13 and 14 TeV.

This paper presents the production of charged particles associated with high-$p_{rm T}$ trigger particles ($8<p_{rm T}^{rm trig.}<15$ GeV/$c$) in proton-proton collisions at $sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV simulated with PYTHIA 8.244. The study is performed as a function of the relative transverse activity classifier, $R_{rm T}$, which is the relative charged-particle multiplicity in the transverse region ($pi/3<|phi^{rm trig.}-phi^{rm assoc.}|<2pi/3$) of the di-hadron correlations, and it is sensitive to the Multi-Parton Interactions. The evolution of both the near and the away-side yield of associated particles ($3leq p_{rm T}^{rm assoc.}< 8$ GeV/$c$) as a function of $R_{rm T}$ is investigated. We propose a strategy which allows for the modelling and subtraction of the underlying event contribution from the near and the away side in challenging environments like those characterised by large $R_{rm T}$. We found that the away-side signal becomes broader with increasing $R_{rm T}$, while its corresponding yield is independent of $R_{rm T}$. Contrarily, the near-side yield increases with $R_{rm T}$. This effect is reminiscent of that seen in heavy-ion collisions, where an enhancement in the near-side yield for 0-5% central Pb-Pb collisions at $sqrt{s_{rm NN}}=2.76$ TeV was reported. A discussion on the origin of these effects in PYTHIA, as well as their implications for the interpretation of recent LHC results for pp collisions, is presented.
Kinematic correlations for pairs of beauty hadrons, produced in high energy proton-proton collisions, are studied. The data sample used was collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$. The measurement is performed using inclusive $brightarrow J/psi X$ decays in the rapidity range $2<y^{J/psi}<4.5$. The observed correlations are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

We present an overview of the measurements of the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry by the DO Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton Collider. The results differ from the Standard Model prediction of CP violation in mixing and inter ference of B^0 and B^0_s by 3.6 standard deviations.

Hard bremsstrahlung production in proton-proton collisions has been studied with the ANKE spectrometer at COSY-Juelich in the energy range of 353-800 MeV by detecting the final proton pair {pp}_s from the pp -> {pp}_s reaction with very low excitatio n energy. Differential cross sections were measured at small diproton c.m. angles from 0 to 20 degrees and the average over this angular interval reveals a broad peak at a beam energy around 650 MeV with a FWHM of about 220 MeV, suggesting the influence of Delta(1232)N intermediate states. Comparison with deuteron photodisintegration shows that the cross section for diproton production is up to two orders of magnitude smaller, due largely to differences in the selection rules.

A study of the charged-particle density (number density) in the transverse region of the di-hadron correlations exploiting the existing pp and p$bar{rm p}$ data from RHIC to LHC energies is reported. This region has contributions from the Underlying Event (UE) as well as from Initial- and Final-State Radiation (ISR-FSR). Based on the data, a two-component model is built. This has the functional form $propto s^{0.27}+0.14log(s)$, where the logarithmic (power-law) term describes the component more sensitive to the ISR-FSR (UE) contribution. The model describes the data from RHIC to LHC energies, the extrapolation to higher energies indicates that at around $sqrt{s} approx 100$ TeV the number density associated to UE will match that from ISR-FSR. Although this behaviour is not predicted by PYTHIA~8.244, the power-law behaviour of the UE contribution is consistent with the energy dependence of the parameter that regulates Multiparton Interactions. Using simulations, KNO-like scaling properties of the multiplicity distributions in the regions sensitive to either UE or ISR-FSR are also discussed. The results presented here can be helpful to constrain QCD-inspired Monte Carlo models at the Future Circular Collider energies, as well as to characterize the UE-based event classifiers which are currently used at the LHC.
