We present the results of high resolution (R$ge$30,000) optical and near-IR spectroscopic monitoring observations of HBC 722, a recent FU Orionis object that underwent an accretion burst in 2010. We observed HBC 722 in optical/near-IR with the BOES, HET-HRS, and IGRINS spectrographs, at various points in the outburst. We found atomic lines with strongly blueshifted absorption features or P Cygni profiles, both evidence of a wind driven by the accretion. Some lines show a broad double-peaked absorption feature, evidence of disk rotation. However, the wind-driven and disk-driven spectroscopic features are anti-correlated in time; the disk features became strong as the wind features disappeared. This anti-correlation might indicate that the rebuilding of the inner disk was interrupted by the wind pressure during the first two years. The Half-Width at Half-Depth (HWHD) of the double-peaked profiles decreases with wavelength, indicative of the Keplerian rotation; the optical spectra with the disk feature are fitted by a G5 template stellar spectrum convolved with a rotation velocity of 70 km s$^{-1}$ while the near-IR disk features are fitted by a K5 template stellar spectrum convolved with a rotation velocity of 50 km s$^{-1}$. Therefore, the optical and near-IR spectra seem to trace the disk at 39 and 76 $textit{R}_{odot}$, respectively. We fit a power-law temperature distribution in the disk, finding an index of 0.8, comparable to optically thick accretion disk models.

We present new results from optical photometric and spectroscopic observations of the eruptive pre-main sequence star V2493 Cyg (HBC 722). The object has continued to undergo significant brightness variations over the past few months and is an ideal target for follow-up observations. We carried out CCD BVRI photometric observations in the field of V2493 Cyg (Gulf of Mexico) from August 1994 to April 2012, i.e. at the pre-outburst states and during the phases of the outburst. We acquired high, medium, and low resolution spectroscopy of V2493 Cyg during the outburst. To study the pre-outburst variability of the target and construct its historical light curve, we searched for archival observations in photographic plate collections. Both CCD and photographic observations were analyzed using 15 comparison stars in the field of V2493 Cyg. The pre-outburst photographic and CCD photometric observations of V2493 Cyg show low-amplitude light variations typical of T Tauri stars. The recent photometric data show a slow light decrease from October 2010 to June 2011 followed by an increase in brightness that continued until early 2012. The spectral observations of V2493 Cyg are typical of FU Orionis stars absorption spectra with strong P Cyg profiles of H alpha and Na I D lines. On the basis of photometric monitoring performed over the past two years, the spectral properties at the maximal light, as well as the shape of long-term light curves, we confirm that the observed outburst of V2493 Cyg is of FU Orionis type.
We analyze the submillimeter emission surrounding the new FU Orionis-type object, HBC 722. We present the first epoch of observations of the active environs of HBC 722, with imaging and spectroscopy from PACS, SPIRE, and HIFI aboard the Herschel Spac e Observatory, as well as CO J= 2-1 and 350 um imaging (SHARC-II) with the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. The primary source of submillimeter continuum emission in the region -- 2MASS 20581767+4353310 -- is located 16$arcsec$ south-southeast of the optical flaring source while the optical and near-IR emission is dominated by HBC 722. A bipolar outflow extends over HBC 722; the most likely driver is the submillimeter source. We detect warm (100 K) and hot (246 K) CO emission in the surrounding region, evidence of outflow-driven heating in the vicinity. The region around HBC 722 itself shows little evidence of heating driven by the new outbursting source itself.
The recent results from photometric study of the new FUor star found in the field of NGC 7000/IC 5070 are presented in the paper. The outburst of V2493 Cyg in the summer of 2010 generated considerable interest among the astronomical community. V2493 Cyg is the first FUor object, whose outburst was observed from its very beginning in all spectral ranges. After reaching the firs maximum in September/October 2010, the brightness of V2493 Cyg declined slowly, having weakened by 1.45 mag. (V) by the spring/early summer of 2011. Since the autumn of 2011, another light increase occurred and the star became brighter by 1.8 mag. (V) until April 2013. The recent photometric data show that the star keeps its maximum brightness during the period April - August 2013 and the recorded amplitude of the outburst reaches Delta V=5.1 mag. Consequently, the outburst of V2493 Cyg lasts for more than three years. We expect that the interest in this object will increase in the coming years and the results will help to explore the nature of young stars.
We estimate effective temperature ($T_{rm eff}$), stellar radius, and luminosity for a sample of 271 M-dwarf stars (M0V-M7V) observed as a part of CARMENES (Calar Alto high-Resolution search for M dwarfs with Exo-earths with Near-infrared and optical Echelle Spectrographs) radial-velocity planet survey. For the first time, using the simultaneously observed high resolution (R$sim90000$) spectra in the optical (0.52 - 0.96 $mu$m) and near-infrared (0.96 - 1.71 $mu$m) bands, we derive empirical calibration relationships to estimate the fundamental parameters of these low-mass stars. We select a sample of nearby and bright M-dwarfs as our calibrators for which the physical parameters are acquired from high-precision interferometric measurements. To identify the most suitable indicators of $T_{rm eff}$, radius, and luminosity (log $L/L_{odot}$), we inspect a range of spectral features and assess them for reliable correlations. We perform multivariate linear regression and find that the combination of pseudo equivalent widths and equivalent width ratios of the Ca II at 0.854 $mu$m and Ca II at 0.866 $mu$m lines in the optical and the Mg I line at 1.57 $mu$m in the NIR give the best fitting linear functional relations for the stellar parameters with root mean square errors (RMSE) of 99K, 0.06 $R_{odot}$ and 0.22 dex respectively. We also explore and compare our results with literature values obtained using other different methods for the same sample of M dwarfs.
With the purpose of assessing classic spectroscopic methods on high-resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio spectra in the near-infrared wavelength region, we selected a sample of 65 F-, G-, and K-type stars observed with CARMENES, the new, ultra-s table, double-channel spectrograph at the 3.5 m Calar Alto telescope. We computed their stellar atmospheric parameters ($T_{rm eff}$, $log{g}$, $xi$, and [Fe/H]) by means of the StePar code, a Python implementation of the equivalent width method that employs the 2017 version of the MOOG code and a grid of MARCS model atmospheres. We compiled four Fe I and Fe II line lists suited to metal-rich dwarfs, metal-poor dwarfs, metal-rich giants, and metal-poor giants that cover the wavelength range from 5300 to 17100 angstroms, thus substantially increasing the number of identified Fe I and Fe II lines up to 653 and 23, respectively. We examined the impact of the near-infrared Fe I and Fe II lines upon our parameter determinations after an exhaustive literature search, placing special emphasis on the 14 $Gaia$ benchmark stars contained in our sample. Even though our parameter determinations remain in good agreement with the literature values, the increase in the number of Fe I and Fe II lines when the near-infrared region is taken into account reveals a deeper $T_{rm eff}$ scale that might stem from a higher sensitivity of the near-infrared lines to $T_{rm eff}$.
