We analyze two possible vector-field models using the techniques of dynamical systems. The first model involves a U(1)-vector field and the second a triad of SU(2)-vector fields. Both models include a gauge-fixing term and a power-law potential. A dynamical system is formulated and it is found that one of the critical points, for each model, corresponds to inflation, the origin of these critical points being the respective gauge-fixing terms. The conditions for the existence of an inflationary era which lasts for at least 60 efolds are studied.

In the present work we investigate the stability of the k-essence models allowing upto quadratic terms of the kinetic energy. The system of field equations is written as an autonomous system in terms of dimensionless variables and the stability crite ria of the equilibria have been extensively investigated. The results strongly indicate that cosmologically consistent models dynamically evolve towards the quintessence model, a stable solution with a canonical form of the dark energy.
We study the phase space dynamics of cosmological models in the theoretical formulations of non-minimal metric-torsion couplings with a scalar field, and investigate in particular the critical points which yield stable solutions exhibiting cosmic acc eleration driven by the {em dark energy}. The latter is defined in a way that it effectively has no direct interaction with the cosmological fluid, although in an equivalent scalar-tensor cosmological setup the scalar field interacts with the fluid (which we consider to be the pressureless dust). Determining the conditions for the existence of the stable critical points we check their physical viability, in both Einstein and Jordan frames. We also verify that in either of these frames, the evolution of the universe at the corresponding stable points matches with that given by the respective exact solutions we have found in an earlier work (arXiv: 1611.00654 [gr-qc]). We not only examine the regions of physical relevance for the trajectories in the phase space when the coupling parameter is varied, but also demonstrate the evolution profiles of the cosmological parameters of interest along fiducial trajectories in the effectively non-interacting scenarios, in both Einstein and Jordan frames.

Inspired by an interesting counterexample to the cosmic no-hair conjecture found in a supergravity-motivated model recently, we propose a multi-field extension, in which two scalar fields are allowed to non-minimally couple to two vector fields, resp ectively. This model is shown to admit an exact Bianchi type I power-law solution. Furthermore, stability analysis based on the dynamical system method is performed to show that this anisotropic solution is indeed stable and attractive if both scalar fields are canonical. Nevertheless, if one of the two scalar fields is phantom then the corresponding anisotropic power-law inflation turns unstable as expected.
We investigate linear and non-linear dynamics of spherically symmetric perturbations on a static configuration in scalar-tensor theories focusing on the chameleon screening mechanism. We particularly address two questions: how much the perturbations can source the fifth force when the static background is well screened, and whether the resultant fifth force can change the stability and structure of the background configuration. For linear perturbations, we derive a lower bound for the square of the Fourier mode frequency $omega^2$ using the adiabatic approximation. There may be unstable modes if this lower bound is negative, and we find that the condition of the instability can be changed by the fifth force although this effect is suppressed by the screening parameter. For non-linear perturbations, because we are mainly interested in short wavelength modes for which the fifth force may become stronger, we perform numerical simulations under the planar approximation. For a sufficiently large initial amplitude of the density perturbation, we find that the magnitude of the fifth force can be comparable to that of Newtonian gravity even when the model parameters are chosen so that the static background is well screened. It is also shown that if the screening is effective for the static background, the fluid dynamics is mostly governed by the pressure gradient and is not significantly affected by the fifth force.
We present two cases where the addition of the $R^2$ term to an inflationary model leads to single-field inflation instead of two-field inflation as is usually the case. In both cases we find that the effect of the $R^2$ term is to reduce the value of the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$.
