In this paper we discuss two constructions of an effective field theory starting from a local interaction functional. One relies on the well-established graphical combinatorics of the BPHZ algorithm to renormalize divergent Feynman amplitudes. The other, more recent and due to Costello, relies on an inductive construction of local counterterms that uses no graphical combinatorics whatsoever. We show that these two constructions produce the same effective field theory.

In this paper we analyze the multi-matrix model arising from the intermediate field representation of the tensor model with all quartic melonic interactions. We derive the saddle point equation and the Schwinger-Dyson constraints. We then use them to describe the leading and next-to-leading eigenvalues distribution of the matrices.

We continue to study doubled aspects of algebroid structures equipped with the C-bracket in double field theory (DFT). We find that a family of algebroids, the Vaisman (metric or pre-DFT), the pre- and the ante-Courant algebroids are constructed by t he analogue of the Drinfeld double of Lie algebroid pairs. We examine geometric implementations of these algebroids in the para-Hermitian manifold, which is a realization of the doubled space-time in DFT. We show that the strong constraint in DFT is necessary to realize the doubled and non-trivial Poisson structures but can be relaxed for some algebroids. The doubled structures of twisted brackets and those associated with group manifolds are briefly discussed.
Effective Field Theories have been used successfully to provide a bottom-up description of phenomena whose intrinsic degrees of freedom behave at length scales far different from their effective degrees of freedom. An example is the emergent phenomen on of bound nuclei, whose constituents are neutrons and protons, which in turn are themselves composed of more fundamental particles called quarks and gluons. In going from a fundamental description that utilizes quarks and gluons to an effective field theory description of nuclei, the length scales traversed span at least two orders of magnitude. In this article we provide an Effective Field Theory viewpoint on the topic of emergence, arguing on the side of reductionism and weak emergence. We comment on Andersons interpretation of constructionism and its connection to strong emergence.
We provide a rigorous lattice approximation of conformal field theories given in terms of lattice fermions in 1+1-dimensions, focussing on free fermion models and Wess-Zumino-Witten models. To this end, we utilize a recently introduced operator-algeb raic framework for Wilson-Kadanoff renormalization. In this setting, we prove the convergence of the approximation of the Virasoro generators by the Koo-Saleur formula. From this, we deduce the convergence of lattice approximations of conformal correlation functions to their continuum limit. In addition, we show how these results lead to explicit error estimates pertaining to the quantum simulation of conformal field theories.

In this paper we recover the non-perturbative partition function of 2D~Yang-Mills theory from the perturbative path integral. To achieve this goal, we study the perturbative path integral quantization for 2D~Yang-Mills theory on surfaces with boundar ies and corners in the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism (or, more precisely, in its adaptation to the setting with boundaries, compatible with gluing and cutting -- the BV-BFV formalism). We prove that cutting a surface (e.g. a closed one) into simple enough pieces -- building blocks -- and choosing a convenient gauge-fixing on the pieces, and assembling back the partition function on the surface, one recovers the known non-perturbative answers for 2D~Yang-Mills theory.
