Chiral symmetry, fundamental in the physics of graphene, guarantees the existence of topologically stable doubled Dirac cones and anomalous behaviors of the zero-energy Landau level in magnetic fields. The crucial role is inherited in the optical responses and many-body physics in graphene, which are explained in this paper. We also give an overview of multilayer graphene from the viewpoint of the optical properties and their relation with the chiral symmetry.
Understanding the mechanisms governing the optical activity of layered-stacked materials is crucial to the design of devices aimed at manipulating light at the nanoscale. Here, we show that both twisted and slid bilayer graphene are chiral systems th
We construct Holstein-Primakoff Hamiltonian for magnons in arbitrary slowly varying spin background, for a microscopic spin Hamiltonian consisting of ferromagnetic spin exchange,Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya exchange, and the Zeeman term. The Gross-Pitaevski
We report high magnetic field scanning tunneling microscopy and Landau level spectroscopy of twisted graphene layers grown by chemical vapor deposition. For twist angles exceeding ~3 degrees the low energy carriers exhibit Landau level spectra charac
We investigate the magnetotransport in large area graphene Hall bars epitaxially grown on silicon carbide. In the intermediate field regime between weak localization and Landau quantization the observed temperature-dependent parabolic magnetoresistiv
Recent transport experiments have demonstrated that the rhombohedral stacking trilayer graphene is an insulator with an intrinsic gap of 6meV and the Bernal stacking trilayer one is a metal. We propose a Hubbard model with a moderate $U$ for layered
