For an embedded singly periodic minimal surface M with genus bigger than or equal to 4 and annular ends, some weak symmetry hypotheses imply its congruence with one of the Hoffman-Wohlgemuth examples. We give a very geometrical proof of this fact, along which they come out many valuable clues for the understanding of these surfaces.

We get a continuous one-parameter new family of embedded minimal surfaces, of which the period problems are two-dimensional. Moreover, one proves that it has Scherk second surface and Hoffman-Wohlgemuth example as limit-members.

This is a survey of results on surfaces in noncommutative three-dimensional Lie groups obtained by using the Weierstrass (spinor) representation of surfaces. It is based on the talk given at the conference Geometry related to the theory of integrable systems (RIMS, Kyoto, September 2007).

We provide a characterisation of strongly normalising terms of the lambda-mu-calculus by means of a type system that uses intersection and product types. The presence of the latter and a restricted use of the type omega enable us to represent the par ticular notion of continuation used in the literature for the definition of semantics for the lambda-mu-calculus. This makes it possible to lift the well-known characterisation property for strongly-normalising lambda-terms - that uses intersection types - to the lambda-mu-calculus. From this result an alternative proof of strong normalisation for terms typeable in Parigots propositional logical system follows, by means of an interpretation of that system into ours.
The main result of this paper is an expression of the flag curvature of a submanifold of a Randers-Minkowski space $({mathscr V},F)$ in terms of invariants related to its Zermelo data $(h,W)$. More precisely, these invariants are the sectional curvat ure and the second fundamental form of the positive definite scalar product $h$ and some projections of the wind $W$. This expression allows for a promising characterization of submanifolds with scalar flag curvature in terms of Riemannian quantities, which, when a hypersurface is considered, seems quite approachable. As a consequence, we prove that any $h$-flat hypersurface $S$ has scalar $F$-flag curvature and the metric of its Zermelo data is conformally flat. As a tool for making the computation, we previously reobtain the Gauss-Codazzi equations of a pseudo-Finsler submanifold using anisotropic calculus.
A foundational theorem of Laman provides a counting characterisation of the finite simple graphs whose generic bar-joint frameworks in two dimensions are infinitesimally rigid. Recently a Laman-type characterisation was obtained for frameworks in thr ee dimensions whose vertices are constrained to concentric spheres or to concentric cylinders. Noting that the plane and the sphere have 3 independent locally tangential infinitesimal motions while the cylinder has 2, we obtain here a Laman-Henneberg theorem for frameworks on algebraic surfaces with a 1-dimensional space of tangential motions. Such surfaces include the torus, helicoids and surfaces of revolution. The relevant class of graphs are the (2,1)-tight graphs, in contrast to (2,3)-tightness for the plane/sphere and (2,2)-tightness for the cylinder. The proof uses a new characterisation of simple (2,1)-tight graphs and an inductive construction requiring generic rigidity preservation for 5 graph moves, including the two Henneberg moves, an edge joining move and various vertex surgery moves.
