In this note we develop tools and techniques for the treatment of anisotropic thermo-elasticity in two space dimensions. We use a diagonalisation technique to obtain properties of the characteristic roots of the full symbol of the system in order to prove $L^p$--$L^q$ decay rates for its solutions.

We are interested in the modeling of wave propagation in poroelastic media. We consider the biphasic Biots model in an infinite bilayered medium, with a plane interface. We adopt the Cagniard-De Hoops technique. This report is devoted to the calculat ion of analytical solutions in two dimensions. The solutions we present here have been used to validate numerical codes.

We propose a unified method for the large space-time scaling limit of emph{linear} collisional kinetic equations in the whole space. The limit is of emph{fractional} diffusion type for heavy tail equilibria with slow enough decay, and of diffusive ty pe otherwise. The proof is constructive and the fractional/standard diffusion matrix is obtained. The equilibria satisfy a {em generalised} weighted mass condition and can have infinite mass. The method combines energy estimates and quantitative spectral methods to construct a `fluid mode. The method is applied to scattering models (without assuming detailed balance conditions), Fokker-Planck operators and L{e}vy-Fokker-Planck operators. It proves a series of new results, including the fractional diffusive limit for Fokker-Planck operators in any dimension, for which the characterization of the diffusion coefficient was not known, for L{e}vy-Fokker-Planck operators with general equilibria, and in cases where the equilibrium has infinite mass. It also unifies and generalises the results of ten previous papers with a quantitative method, and our estimates on the fluid approximation error seem novel in these cases.
In this paper, we establish a novel unique continuation property for two-dimensional anisotropic elasticity systems with partial information. More precisely, given a homogeneous elasticity system in a domain, we investigate the unique continuation by assuming only the vanishing of one component of the solution in a subdomain. Using the corresponding Riemann function, we prove that the solution vanishes in the whole domain provided that the other component vanishes at one point up to its second derivatives. Further, we construct several examples showing the possibility of further reducing the additional information of the other component. This result possesses remarkable significance in both theoretical and practical aspects because the required data is almost halved for the unique determination of the whole solution.
Superoscillating functions and supershifts appear naturally in weak measurements in physics. Their evolution as initial conditions in the time dependent Schrodinger equation is an important and challenging problem in quantum mechanics and mathematica l analysis. The concept that encodes the persistence of superoscillations during the evolution is the (more general) supershift property of the solution. In this paper we give a unified approach to determine the supershift property for the solution of the time dependent Schrodinger equation. The main advantage and novelty of our results is that they only require suitable estimates and regularity assumptions on the Greens function, but not its explicit form. With this efficient general technique we are able to treat various potentials.
There is an interesting potential theory associated to each degenerate elliptic, fully nonlinear equation $f(D^2u) = 0$. These include all the potential theories attached to calibrated geometries. This paper begins the study of tangents to the subsol utions in these theories, a topic inspired by the results of Kiselman in the classical plurisubharmonic case. Fundamental to this study is a new invariant of the equation, called the Riesz characteristic, which governs asymptotic structures. The existence of tangents to subsolutions is established in general, as is the existence of an upper semi-continuous density function. Two theorems establishing the strong uniqueness of tangents (which means every tangent is a Riesz kernel) are proved. They cover all O(n)-invariant convex cone equations and their complex and quaternionic analogues, with the exception of the homogeneous Monge-Amp`ere equations, where uniqueness fails. They also cover a large class of geometrically defined subequations which includes those coming from calibrations. A discreteness result for the sets where the density is $geq c > 0$ is also established in any case where strong uniqueness holds. A further result (which is sharp) asserts the Holder continuity of subsolutions when the Riesz characteristic p satisfies $1 leq p < 2$. Many explicit examples are examined. The second part of this paper is devoted to the geometric cases. A Homogeneity Theorem and a Second Strong Uniqueness Theorem are proved, and the tangents in the Monge-Amp`ere case are completely classified.
