This study was carried out during the growing season of 2015 to study effect od three planting date (1 Feb., 15 Feb. and 1 March) and four levels of nitrogen fertilization (0, 40, 60 and 80 kg/Ha) with interactive effect between them on some yield components of cumin.
The research was carried out in the laboratories of food science department at Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University during the year 2012 to compare some chemical parameters (moisture،ash, sugars, fat, fibe, protein) and biological active co mpounds (total phenols, vitamin C) in fresh strawberry fruits and strawberry jam. Statistical analysis showed a significant reduction (p<0.05) in moisture, ash, fat and protein in strawperry jam comparing to fresh fruits. Total phenols was decreased significantly (P< 0.05) from 2078 mg/100 g DM in fresh strawberries to 1070 and 962 mg /100 g DM in homemade and commercial strawberry jam respectively. Also the amount of vitamine c was decreased from 346 mg /100 gram dry matter in fresh fruits to 45 mg/100 gram dry matter in locall made jam ،while it was 30 mg/ 100 gram dry matter in commercial strawberry jam. These were reflected on anthocyanins which was decreased from 1080 mg/ 100 g DM during processing to 132 and 105 mg/ 100 g DM in homemade jam and commercial strawberry jam respectively. These changes reflected in a significant (P< 0.05) decline in the antioxidant activity.
A trial was carried out to study the possibility of using fenugreek powder in the treatment of diabetes type(2). 48 Newzealand white male rabbits ( five months old)were used in this experiment.Theexperimental animals were randomly divided into fo ur groups. By using Aloluxan, we enforced diabetes type2 in three of the four groups of the experimental animals. The animals of the fourth group remained as a natural healthy control.
This search was conducted in Albassa town at Lattakia governorate , during 2011 and 2012 growing seasons for study effects of 3 sowing dates ( 15th of April , 25th of April and 5th of May ) and 4 levels of nitrogen fertilization ( N1: control , N2: 50 kg/ha , N3: 100 kg/ha , N4: 150 kg/ha ) on several attributes of groundnut (Coastal category) production . The results showed that the 5th of May sowing date had significant excel in the average of the two growing seasons in dry weight of pods in plant , wheight 100- Seeds, The per-hectare yield of seeds and Harvest index , It ranked first in the two seasons search. Also, The application of nitrogen fertilizer at a rate of 150 kg/ha had resulted in a significant increase in studied productivity traits in the average of the two growing seasons , Except for harvest index , which was at least as compared to other levels of fertilization. The interaction between the sowing date ( 5th of May ) and the level of nitrogen fertilization (150 kg/ha) showed a significant excel in the average of the two growing seasons in dry weight of pods in plant , wheight 100- Seeds and The per-hectare yield of seeds .
The reasearch was carried out during 2009 – 2010 in Al – Hasaka – Amoda - to study the effect of cattle manure at the rat of 30 ton / ha , and four organic green manure ( Lentil, Vetch, Faba bean and Barely) on soil content of organic matter and so me mineral elements compared with chemical fertilizer 400 kg / ha urea , 83 kg / ha P2O5 and 25 kg / ha K2O . The manure significantly increased organic matter , phosphorus and potassium concentrations compared with other fertilizers ( chemical and green fertilizers ) . All green fertilizers ( Lentil , Vetch , Faba bean and Barely ) significantly increased organic matter , nitrogen and potassium concentration compared with the control without using any fertilizer , the tillage depth ( 0 – 10 ) cm significantly increased soil content of organic matter and nitrogen compared with deeper tillage ( 25 – 30 ) cm during the two seasons .
