The Islamic University of Lebanon

English description

IUL is a non-profit private institution affiliated to the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council established by Law no. 72/67, and granted educational, administrative and financial autonomy. Initiated by the desire of Imam Sayyed Moussa EL-SADER, IUL was established with the dual aim of promoting the culture of higher education to the most deprived and disadvantaged members of the society and providing enhanced proximity and collaborative innovation to meet the future demands thereof. This desire was fulfilled by the late Imam Sheikh Mohammad Mahdi Shams Al-Din in 1996, then, further developed and expanded by Imam Sheikh Abdul Amir Qablan. IUL is currently a teaching-centered research university whose headquarters are located in Khaldeh–Lebanon, and branches in Wardanieh, Tyre and Baalbek. It occupies a leading position because of its unique innovative programs, outstanding academic achievement, and administrative and financial autonomy granted thereto. IUL today, under the slogan “A University for all country citizens and the Arab world,” endeavors at promoting and developing higher education. It is characterized by its regional and international relationships, and embraces students, professors and administrators all over Lebanon and the Arab and European world.
