Single electron tunneling is studied in a many electron quantum dot in high magnetic fields. For such a system multiple transitions of the spin configuration are theoretically predicted. With a combination of spin blockade and Kondo effect we are able to detect five regions with different spin configurations. Transitions are induced with changing electron numbers.

This review article describes theoretical and experimental advances in using quantum dots as a system for studying impurity quantum phase transitions and the non-Fermi liquid behavior at the quantum critical point.
Spatially nonhomogeneously spin polarized nuclei are proposed as a new mechanism to monitor electron states in a nanostructure, or as a means to createn and, if necessary, reshape such nanostructures in the course of the experiment. We found that a polarization of nulear spins may lift the spin polarization of the electron states in a nanostructure and, if sufficiently strong, leads to a polarization of the electron spins. Polarized nuclear spins may form an energy landscape capable of binding electrons with energy up to several meV and the localization radius $ >$ 100AA.
We investigate ground and excited state transport through small (d = 70 nm) graphene quantum dots. The successive spin filling of orbital states is detected by measuring the ground state energy as a function of a magnetic field. For a magnetic field in-plane of the quantum dot the Zemann splitting of spin states is measured. The results are compatible with a g-factor of 2 and we detect a spin-filling sequence for a series of states which is reasonable given the strength of exchange interaction effects expected for graphene.
We consider a quantum dot embedded in a three-dimensional nanowire with tunable aspect ratio a. A configuration interaction theory is developed to calculate the energy spectra of the finite 1D quantum dot systems charged with two electrons in the presence of magnetic fields B along the wire axis. Fruitful singlet-triplet transition behaviors are revealed and explained in terms of the competing exchange interaction, correlation interaction, and spin Zeeman energy. In the high aspect ratio regime, the singlet-triplet transitions are shown designable by tuning the parameters a and B. The transitions also manifest the highly correlated nature of long nanowire quantum dots.
As an analogy to the Weyl point in k-space, we search for energy levels which close at a single point as a function of a three dimensional parameter space. Such points are topologically protected in the sense that any perturbation which acts on the two level subsystem can be corrected by tuning the control parameters. We find that parameter controlled Weyl points are ubiquitous in semiconductor-superconductor quantum dots and that they are deeply related to Majorana zero modes. In this paper, we present several semiconductor-superconductor quantum dot devices which host parameter controlled Weyl points. Further, we show how these points can be observed experimentally via conductance measurements.
