Graph neural networks (GNNs) have recently achieved state-of-the-art performance in many graph-based applications. Despite the high expressive power, they typically need to perform an expensive recursive neighborhood expansion in multiple training epochs and face a scalability issue. Moreover, most of them are inflexible since they are restricted to fixed-hop neighborhoods and insensitive to actual receptive field demands for different nodes. We circumvent these limitations by introducing a scalable and flexible Graph Attention Multilayer Perceptron (GAMLP). With the separation of the non-linear transformation and feature propagation, GAMLP significantly improves the scalability and efficiency by performing the propagation procedure in a pre-compute manner. With three principled receptive field attention, each node in GAMLP is flexible and adaptive in leveraging the propagated features over the different sizes of reception field. We conduct extensive evaluations on the three large open graph benchmarks (e.g., ogbn-papers100M, ogbn-products and ogbn-mag), demonstrating that GAMLP not only achieves the state-of-art performance, but also additionally provide high scalability and efficiency.

As an important part of speech recognition technology, automatic speech keyword recognition has been intensively studied in recent years. Such technology becomes especially pivotal under situations with limited infrastructures and computational resources, such as voice command recognition in vehicles and robot interaction. At present, the mainstream methods in automatic speech keyword recognition are based on long short-term memory (LSTM) networks with attention mechanism. However, due to inevitable information losses for the LSTM layer caused during feature extraction, the calculated attention weights are biased. In this paper, a novel approach, namely Multi-layer Attention Mechanism, is proposed to handle the inaccurate attention weights problem. The key idea is that, in addition to the conventional attention mechanism, information of layers prior to feature extraction and LSTM are introduced into attention weights calculations. Therefore, the attention weights are more accurate because the overall model can have more precise and focused areas. We conduct a comprehensive comparison and analysis on the keyword spotting performances on convolution neural network, bi-directional LSTM cyclic neural network, and cyclic neural network with the proposed attention mechanism on Google Speech Command datasets V2 datasets. Experimental results indicate favorable results for the proposed method and demonstrate the validity of the proposed method. The proposed multi-layer attention methods can be useful for other researches related to object spotting.
For graph classification tasks, many traditional kernel methods focus on measuring the similarity between graphs. These methods have achieved great success on resolving graph isomorphism problems. However, in some classification problems, the graph class depends on not only the topological similarity of the whole graph, but also constituent subgraph patterns. To this end, we propose a novel graph embedding method using a multi-layer adjacent point merging model. This embedding method allows us to extract different subgraph patterns from train-data. Then we present a flexible loss function for feature selection which enhances the robustness of our method for different classification problems. Finally, numerical evaluations demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms many state-of-the-art methods.
Standard neural network based on general back propagation learning using delta method or gradient descent method has some great faults like poor optimization of error-weight objective function, low learning rate, instability .This paper introduces a hybrid supervised back propagation learning algorithm which uses trust-region method of unconstrained optimization of the error objective function by using quasi-newton method .This optimization leads to more accurate weight update system for minimizing the learning error during learning phase of multi-layer perceptron.[13][14][15] In this paper augmented line search is used for finding points which satisfies Wolfe condition. In this paper, This hybrid back propagation algorithm has strong global convergence properties & is robust & efficient in practice.
Advanced methods of applying deep learning to structured data such as graphs have been proposed in recent years. In particular, studies have focused on generalizing convolutional neural networks to graph data, which includes redefining the convolution and the downsampling (pooling) operations for graphs. The method of generalizing the convolution operation to graphs has been proven to improve performance and is widely used. However, the method of applying downsampling to graphs is still difficult to perform and has room for improvement. In this paper, we propose a graph pooling method based on self-attention. Self-attention using graph convolution allows our pooling method to consider both node features and graph topology. To ensure a fair comparison, the same training procedures and model architectures were used for the existing pooling methods and our method. The experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves superior graph classification performance on the benchmark datasets using a reasonable number of parameters.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have proved to be an effective representation learning framework for graph-structured data, and have achieved state-of-the-art performance on many practical predictive tasks, such as node classification, link prediction and graph classification. Among the variants of GNNs, Graph Attention Networks (GATs) learn to assign dense attention coefficients over all neighbors of a node for feature aggregation, and improve the performance of many graph learning tasks. However, real-world graphs are often very large and noisy, and GATs are prone to overfitting if not regularized properly. Even worse, the local aggregation mechanism of GATs may fail on disassortative graphs, where nodes within local neighborhood provide more noise than useful information for feature aggregation. In this paper, we propose Sparse Graph Attention Networks (SGATs) that learn sparse attention coefficients under an $L_0$-norm regularization, and the learned sparse attentions are then used for all GNN layers, resulting in an edge-sparsified graph. By doing so, we can identify noisy/task-irrelevant edges, and thus perform feature aggregation on most informative neighbors. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world graph learning benchmarks demonstrate the superior performance of SGATs. In particular, SGATs can remove about 50%-80% edges from large assortative graphs, while retaining similar classification accuracies. On disassortative graphs, SGATs prune majority of noisy edges and outperform GATs in classification accuracies by significant margins. Furthermore, the removed edges can be interpreted intuitively and quantitatively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first graph learning algorithm that shows significant redundancies in graphs and edge-sparsified graphs can achieve similar or sometimes higher predictive performances than original graphs.
