We investigate the structural and critical properties of CrTe1-xSbx with 0.0 leq x leq 0.2. The XRD patterns revealed that Sb-substitution resulted in a pure NiAs-hexagonal structure with P63/mmc (194) space-group. Lattice refinement of the structure revealed little changes in the a-lattice parameter, along with a more pronounced reduction in the c-axis. The critical behavior in CrTe1-xSbx has been investigated using the magnetization isotherms near the ferromagnetic transition. The obtained critical exponents ( beta, gamma ,and delta) revealed that all samples (with 0.0 leq x leq 0.2) closely follow a mean field-like behavior with ferromagnetic Curie temperature (Tc) near room temperature. The results from Widom scaling relation indicating self-consistency of the acquired values. Moreover, the magnetization isotherms near the Curie temperature follow a universal scaling behavior, giving further support for the obtained critical exponents.

Structural, magnetic and thermal measurements performed on CeCo{1-x}Fe{x}Si alloys are reported. Three regions can be recognized: i) Co-rich (x < 0.20) with a decreasing long range antiferromagnetic order which vanishes at finite temperature, ii) an intermediate region (0.20 < x < 0.30) showing a broad magnetic anomaly (C_A) in specific heat and iii) the non-magnetic region progressively changing from a non-Fermi-liquid type behavior towards a Fermi liquid one as Fe concentration increases. The C_A anomaly emerges as an incipient contribution above T_N already at x = 0.10, which indicates that this contribution is related to short range correlations likely of quasi-two dimensional type. Both, T_N transition and C_A anomaly are practically not affected by applied magnetic field up to B ~ 10 Tesla.
In this study, we employ bulk electronic properties characterization and x-ray scattering/spectroscopy techniques to map the structural, magnetic and electronic properties of (Eu$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$)$_{2}$Ir$_{2}$O$_{7}$ as a function of Ca-doping. As expected, the metal-insulator transition temperature, $T_{MIT}$, decreases with Ca-doping until a metallic state is realized down to 2 K. In contrast, $T_{AFM}$ becomes decoupled from the MIT and (likely short-range) AFM order persists into the metallic regime. This decoupling is understood as a result of the onset of an electronically phase separated state, the occurrence of which seemingly depends on both synthesis method and rare earth site magnetism. PDF analysis suggests that electronic phase separation occurs without accompanying chemical phase segregation or changes in the short-range crystallographic symmetry while synchrotron x-ray diffraction confirms that there is no change in the long-range crystallographic symmetry. X-ray absorption measurements confirm the $J_{eff}$ = 1/2 character of (Eu$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$)$_{2}$Ir$_{2}$O$_{7}$. Surprisingly these measurements also indicate a net electron doping, rather than the expected hole doping, indicating a compensatory mechanism. Lastly, XMCD measurements show a weak Ir magnetic polarization that is largely unaffected by Ca-doping.
We report thermal-expansion, lattice-constant, and specific-heat data of the series La_1-xA_xCoO_3 for 0<= x <= 0.30 with A = Ca, Sr, and Ba. For the undoped compound LaCoO_3 the thermal-expansion coefficient alpha(T) exhibits a pronounced maximum around T=50K caused by a temperature-driven spin-state transition from a low-spin state of the Co^{3+$ ions at low towards a higher spin state at higher temperatures. The partial substitution of the La^{3+} ions by divalent Ca^{2+}, Sr^{2+}, or Ba^{2+} ions causes drastic changes in the macroscopic properties of LaCoO3. The large maximum in alpha(T) is suppressed and completely vanishes for x> 0.12. For A = Ca three different anomalies develop in alpha(T) with further increasing x, which are visible in specific-heat data as well. Together with temperature-dependent x-ray data we identify several phase transitions as a function of the doping concentration x and temperature. From these data we propose an extended phase diagram for La_1-xCa_xCoO_3.

Resistance of Fe$_{1-x}$Ni$_x$(x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 and 0.9) has been measured using four probe method from 5K to 300K with and without a longitudinal magnetic field of 8T. The zero field resistivity of x=0.1 and 0.9 alloys, predominant contribution to resistivity above near room temperature is due to electron-phonon scattering, whereas for x=05 and 0.7 alloys electron-magnon scattering is dominant. Alloys with x=0.1 and 0.9 exhibit positive magnetoresistance(MR) from 5K to 300K. For x=0.5 and 0.7 alloys, magnetoresistance changes sign from positive to negative with increase in temperature. The temperature at which sign changes increase with Ni concentration in the alloy. The field dependent magnetoresistance is positive for x=0.1, 0.7 and 0.9 alloys whereas it is negative for x=0.5 alloy. MR follows linear behaviour with field for x=0.1 alloy. MR of all other alloys follow a second order polynomial in field.

This paper reports high resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies on Fe$_{1-x}$Ni$_x$ (x=0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.9) alloys down to 10 K temperature. Core levels and Auger transitions of the alloys except the invar alloy (x=0.4) exhibit no observable temperature induced changes. The invar alloy exhibits changes in the core levels below 20 K temperature that strongly depend on the core level. Such core level dependent changes with temperature were attributed to the precipitation of spin glass like phase below 20 K only in the invar alloy. Ni L$_3$M$_{45}$M$_{45}$ Auger transition also supported such precipitation below 20 K.
