We benchmark angular-momentum projected Hartree-Fock calculations as an approximation to full configuration-interaction results in a shell model basis. For such a simple approximation we find reasonably good agreement between excitation spectra, including for many odd-$A$ and odd-odd nuclides. We frequently find shape coexistence, in the form of multiple Hartree-Fock minima, which demonstrably improves the spectrum in the $sd$- and $pf$-shells. The complex spectra of germanium isotopes present a challenge: for even $A$ the spectra are only moderately good and those of odd $A$ bear little resemblance to the configuration-interaction results. Despite this failure we are able to broadly reproduce the odd-even staggering of ground state binding energies, save for germanium isotopes with $N > 40$. To illustrate potential applications, we compute the spectrum of the recently measured dripline nuclide $^{40}$Mg. All in all, projected Hartree-Fock often provides a better description of low-lying nuclear spectra than one might expect. Key to this is the use of gradient descent and unrestricted shapes.

The relation between the correlation energy and the entanglement is analytically constructed for the Moshinskys model of two coupled harmonic oscillators. It turns out that the two quantities are far to be proportional, even at very small couplings. A comparison is made also with the 2-point Ising model.
Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory allows to derive the $G$-matrix as an effective interaction between nucleons in the nuclear medium. It depends on the center of mass momentum $bm{P}$ of the two particles and on the two relative momenta $bm{q}$ and $bm{q}$ before and after the scattering process. In the evaluation of the total energy per particle in nuclear matter usually the angle averaged center of mass momentum approximation has been used. We derive in detail the exact expressions of the angular integrations of the momentum $bm{P}$ within relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (RBHF) theory, especially for the case of asymmetric nuclear matter. In order to assess the reliability of the conventional average momentum approximation for the binding energy, the saturation properties of symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter are systematically investigated based on the realistic Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential. It is found that the exact treatment of the center of mass momentum leads to non-negligible contributions to the higher order physical quantities. The correlation between the symmetry energy $E_{mathrm{sym}}$, the slope parameter $L$, and the curvature $K_{mathrm{sym}}$ of the symmetry energy are investigated. The results of our RBHF calculations for the bulk parameters characterizing the equation of state are compared with recent constraints extracted from giant monopole resonance and isospin diffusion experiments.
Rotational structures of even-even $^{148-160}$Nd nuclei are studied with the self-consistent deformed Hartree-Fock (HF) and angular momentum (J) projection model. Spectra of ground band, recently observed $K=4^{-}$, $K=5^{-}$ and a few more excited, positive and negative parity bands have been studied upto high spin values. Apart from these detailed electromagnetic properties (like E2, M1 matrix elements) of all the bands have been obtained. There is substantial agreement between our model calculations and available experimental data. Predictions are made about the band structures and electromagnetic properties of these nuclei. Some 4-qasiparticle K-isomeric bands and their electromagnetic properties are predicted.
A new relativistic Hartree-Fock approach with density-dependent $sigma$, $omega$, $rho$ and $pi$ meson-nucleon couplings for finite nuclei and nuclear matter is presented. Good description for finite nuclei and nuclear matter is achieved with a number of adjustable parameters comparable to that of the relativistic mean field approach. With the Fock terms, the contribution of the $pi$-meson is included and the description for the nucleon effective mass and its isospin and energy dependence is improved.

Background: The Density-constraint Time-dependent Hartree-Fock method is currently the tool of choice to predict fusion cross-sections. However, it does not include pairing correlations, which have been found recently to play an important role. Purpose: To describe the fusion cross-section with a method that includes the superfluidity and to understand the impact of pairing on both the fusion barrier and cross-section. Method: The density-constraint method is tested first on the following reactions without pairing, $^{16}$O+$^{16}$O and $^{40}$Ca+$^{40}$Ca. A new method is developed, the Density-constraint Time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method. Using the Gogny-TDHFB code, it is applied to the reactions $^{20}$O+$^{20}$O and $^{44}$Ca+$^{44}$Ca. Results: The Gogny approach for systems without pairing reproduces the experimental data well. The DC-TDHFB method is coherent with the TDHFB fusion threshold. The effect of the phase-lock mechanism is shown for those reactions. Conclusions: The DC-TDHFB method is a useful new tool to determine the fusion potential between superfluid systems and to deduce their fusion cross-sections.
