In 1975, P.R. Chernoff used iterates of the Laplacian on $mathbb{R}^n$ to prove an $L^2$ version of the Denjoy-Carleman theorem which provides a sufficient condition for a smooth function on $mathbb{R}^n$ to be quasi-analytic. In this paper, we prove an exact analogue of Chernoffs theorem for all rank one Riemannian symmetric spaces (of noncompact and compact types) using iterates of the associated Laplace-Beltrami operators.

Let $G $ be a noncompact semisimple Lie group with finite centre. Let $X=G/K$ be the associated Riemannian symmetric space and assume that $X$ is of rank one. The spectral projections associated to the Laplace-Beltrami operator are given by $P_{lambda}f =fast Phi_{lambda}$, where $Phi_{lambda}$ are the elementary spherical functions on $X$. In this paper, we prove an Ingham type uncertainty principle for $P_{lambda}f$. Moreover, similar results are obtained in the case of spectral projections associated to Dunkl Laplacian.
We prove an analogue of Chernoffs theorem for the sublaplacian on the Heisenberg group and use it prove a version of Inghams theorem for the Fourier transform on the same group.
We indicate a geometric relation between Laplace-Beltrami spectra and eigenfunctions on compact Riemannian symmetric spaces and the Borel-Weil theory using ideas from symplectic geometry and geometric quantization. This is done by associating to each compact Riemannian symmetric space, via Marsden-Weinstein reduction, a generalized flag manifold which covers the space parametrizing all of its maximal totally geodesic tori. In the process we notice a direct relation between the Satake diagram of the symmetric space and the painted Dynkin diagram of its associated flag manifold. We consider in detail the examples of the classical simply-connected spaces of rank one and the space SU(3)/SO(3). In the second part of the paper we provide a construction of harmonic polynomials inducing Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions on the symmetric space from holomorphic sections of the associated line bundle on the generalized flag manifold. We show that in the examples we consider the construction provides all of the eigenfunctions.
We prove an uncertainty principle for certain eigenfunction expansions on $ L^2(mathbb{R}^+,w(r)dr) $ and use it to prove analogues of theorems of Chernoff and Ingham for Laplace-Beltrami operators on compact symmetric spaces, special Hermite operator on $ mathbb{C}^n $ and Hermite operator on $ mathbb{R}^n.$
This paper is devoted to give several characterizations on a more general level for the boundedness of $tau$-Wigner distributions acting from weighted modulation spaces to weighted modulation and Wiener amalgam spaces. As applications, sharp exponents are obtained for the boundedness of $tau$-Wigner distributions on modulation spaces with power weights. We also recapture the main theorems of Wigner distribution obtained in cite{CorderoNicola2018IMRNI,Cordero2020a}. As consequences, the characterizations of the boundedness on weighted modulation spaces of several types of pseudodifferential operators are established. In particular, we give the sharp exponents for the boundedness of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in Sj{o}strands class and the corresponding Wiener amalgam spaces.
