A stochastic multi-user multi-armed bandit framework is used to develop algorithms for uncoordinated spectrum access. In contrast to prior work, it is assumed that rewards can be non-zero even under collisions, thus allowing for the number of users to be greater than the number of channels. The proposed algorithm consists of an estimation phase and an allocation phase. It is shown that if every user adopts the algorithm, the system wide regret is order-optimal of order $O(log T)$ over a time-horizon of duration $T$. The regret guarantees hold for both the cases where the number of users is greater than or less than the number of channels. The algorithm is extended to the dynamic case where the number of users in the system evolves over time, and is shown to lead to sub-linear regret.

Multi-user multi-armed bandits have emerged as a good model for uncoordinated spectrum access problems. In this paper we consider the scenario where users cannot communicate with each other. In addition, the environment may appear differently to different users, ${i.e.}$, the mean rewards as observed by different users for the same channel may be different. With this setup, we present a policy that achieves a regret of $O (log{T})$. This paper has been accepted at Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers 2019.
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NoMA) as an efficient way of radio resource sharing has been identified as a promising technology in 5G to help improving system capacity, user connectivity, and service latency in 5G communications. This paper provides a brief overview of the progress of NoMA transceiver study in 3GPP, with special focus on the design of turbo-like iterative multi-user (MU) receivers. There are various types of MU receivers depending on the combinations of MU detectors and interference cancellation (IC) schemes. Link-level simulations show that expectation propagation algorithm (EPA) with hybrid parallel interference cancellation (PIC) is a promising MU receiver, which can achieve fast convergence and similar performance as message passing algorithm (MPA) with much lower complexity.
This work focuses on the performance analysis of short blocklength communication with application in smart grids. We use stochastic geometry to compute in closed form the success probability of a typical message transmission as a function of its size (i.e. blocklength), the number of information bits and the density of interferers. Two different scenarios are investigated: (i) dynamic spectrum access where the licensed and unlicensed users, share the uplink channel frequency band and (ii) local licensing approach using the so called micro operator, which holds an exclusive license of its own. Approximated outage probability expression is derived for the dynamic spectrum access scenario, while a closed-form solution is attained for the micro-operator. The analysis also incorporates the use of retransmissions when messages are detected in error. Our numerical results show how reliability and delay are related in either scenarios.

Mobile-edge computing (MEC) has recently emerged as a prominent technology to liberate mobile devices from computationally intensive workloads, by offloading them to the proximate MEC server. To make offloading effective, the radio and computational resources need to be dynamically managed, to cope with the time-varying computation demands and wireless fading channels. In this paper, we develop an online joint radio and computational resource management algorithm for multi-user MEC systems, with the objective as minimizing the long-term average weighted sum power consumption of the mobile devices and the MEC server, subject to a task buffer stability constraint. Specifically, at each time slot, the optimal CPU-cycle frequencies of the mobile devices are obtained in closed forms, and the optimal transmit power and bandwidth allocation for computation offloading are determined with the Gauss-Seidel method; while for the MEC server, both the optimal frequencies of the CPU cores and the optimal MEC server scheduling decision are derived in closed forms. Besides, a delay-improved mechanism is proposed to reduce the execution delay. Rigorous performance analysis is conducted for the proposed algorithm and its delay-improved version, indicating that the weighted sum power consumption and execution delay obey an $left[Oleft(1slash Vright),Oleft(Vright)right]$ tradeoff with $V$ as a control parameter. Simulation results are provided to validate the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the impacts of various parameters.
We consider multi-access coded caching problem introduced by Hachem et.al., where each user has access to $L$ neighboring caches in a cyclic wrap-around fashion. We focus on the deterministic schemes for a specific class of multi-access coded caching problem based on the concept of PDA. We construct new PDAs which specify the delivery scheme for the specific class of multi-access coded caching problem discussed in this paper. For the proposed scheme, the coding gain is larger than that of the state-of-the-art while the sub-packetization level varies only linearly with the number of users. Hence, we achieve a lower transmission rate with the least sub-packetization level compared to the existing schemes.
