Stickers with vivid and engaging expressions are becoming increasingly popular in online messaging apps, and some works are dedicated to automatically select sticker response by matching the stickers image with previous utterances. However, existing methods usually focus on measuring the matching degree between the dialog context and sticker image, which ignores the user preference of using stickers. Hence, in this paper, we propose to recommend an appropriate sticker to user based on multi-turn dialog context and sticker using history of user. Two main challenges are confronted in this task. One is to model the sticker preference of user based on the previous sticker selection history. Another challenge is to jointly fuse the user preference and the matching between dialog context and candidate sticker into final prediction making. To tackle these challenges, we propose a emph{Preference Enhanced Sticker Response Selector} (PESRS) model. Specifically, PESRS first employs a convolutional based sticker image encoder and a self-attention based multi-turn dialog encoder to obtain the representation of stickers and utterances. Next, deep interaction network is proposed to conduct deep matching between the sticker and each utterance. Then, we model the user preference by using the recently selected stickers as input, and use a key-value memory network to store the preference representation. PESRS then learns the short-term and long-term dependency between all interaction results by a fusion network, and dynamically fuse the user preference representation into the final sticker selection prediction. Extensive experiments conducted on a large-scale real-world dialog dataset show that our model achieves the state-of-the-art performance for all commonly-used metrics. Experiments also verify the effectiveness of each component of PESRS.

However, due to their large quantities, it is impractical to require text labels for the all stickers. Hence, in this paper, we propose to recommend an appropriate sticker to user based on multi-turn dialog context history without any external labels. Two main challenges are confronted in this task. One is to learn semantic meaning of stickers without corresponding text labels. Another challenge is to jointly model the candidate sticker with the multi-turn dialog context. To tackle these challenges, we propose a sticker response selector (SRS) model. Recently there has been a huge interest in dialog systems. This interest has also been developed in the field of the medical domain where researchers are focusing on building a dialog system in the medical domain. This research is focused on the multi-turn dialog system trained on the multi-turn dialog data. It is difficult to gather a huge amount of multi-turn conversational data in the medical domain that is verified by professionals and can be trusted. However, there are several frequently asked questions (FAQs) or single-turn QA pairs that have information that is verified by the experts and can be used to build a multi-turn dialog system.
Understanding audio-visual content and the ability to have an informative conversation about it have both been challenging areas for intelligent systems. The Audio Visual Scene-aware Dialog (AVSD) challenge, organized as a track of the Dialog System Technology Challenge 7 (DSTC7), proposes a combined task, where a system has to answer questions pertaining to a video given a dialogue with previous question-answer pairs and the video itself. We propose for this task a hierarchical encoder-decoder model which computes a multi-modal embedding of the dialogue context. It first embeds the dialogue history using two LSTMs. We extract video and audio frames at regular intervals and compute semantic features using pre-trained I3D and VGGish models, respectively. Before summarizing both modalities into fixed-length vectors using LSTMs, we use FiLM blocks to condition them on the embeddings of the current question, which allows us to reduce the dimensionality considerably. Finally, we use an LSTM decoder that we train with scheduled sampling and evaluate using beam search. Compared to the modality-fusing baseline model released by the AVSD challenge organizers, our model achieves a relative improvements of more than 16%, scoring 0.36 BLEU-4 and more than 33%, scoring 0.997 CIDEr.
Digital assistants are experiencing rapid growth due to their ability to assist users with day-to-day tasks where most dialogues are happening multi-turn. However, evaluating multi-turn dialogues remains challenging, especially at scale. We suggest a context-sensitive method to estimate the turn-level satisfaction for dialogue considering various types of user preferences. The costs of interactions between users and dialogue systems are formulated using a budget consumption concept. We assume users have an initial interaction budget for a dialogue formed based on the task complexity and that each turn has a cost. When the task is completed, or the budget has been exhausted, users quit the dialogue. We demonstrate our methods effectiveness by extensive experimentation with a simulated dialogue platform and real multi-turn dialogues.
Multimodal affect recognition constitutes an important aspect for enhancing interpersonal relationships in human-computer interaction. However, relevant data is hard to come by and notably costly to annotate, which poses a challenging barrier to build robust multimodal affect recognition systems. Models trained on these relatively small datasets tend to overfit and the improvement gained by using complex state-of-the-art models is marginal compared to simple baselines. Meanwhile, there are many different multimodal affect recognition datasets, though each may be small. In this paper, we propose to leverage these datasets using weakly-supervised multi-task learning to improve the generalization performance on each of them. Specifically, we explore three multimodal affect recognition tasks: 1) emotion recognition; 2) sentiment analysis; and 3) sarcasm recognition. Our experimental results show that multi-tasking can benefit all these tasks, achieving an improvement up to 2.9% accuracy and 3.3% F1-score. Furthermore, our method also helps to improve the stability of model performance. In addition, our analysis suggests that weak supervision can provide a comparable contribution to strong supervision if the tasks are highly correlated.
