The $J/psi$-$p$ scattering length, $alpha_{J/psi p}$, can be extracted from the $J/psi$ photoproduction cross section near threshold using the Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) model to relate the reaction $gamma p to J/psi p$ to $J/psi p to J/psi p$. Such estimates based on experimental data result in values for $|alpha_{J/psi p}|$, which are much lower than most of the theoretical predictions. In this work, we study the relations between the different results, depending on the use of the total or the differential cross sections, and the method of extrapolating the data to threshold in the case of a low-statistics data sample, such as the near threshold $J/psi$ photoproduction dataset. We estimate a range for $|alpha_{J/psi p}|$ of $0.003$ to $0.025$~fm as extracted from experimental data within the VMD model and discuss possible reasons for such lower values compared to the theoretical results.

The quality of the recent GlueX $J/psi $ photoproduction data from Hall~D at Jefferson Laboratory, and the proximity of the data to the energy threshold, gives access to a variety of interesting physics aspects. As an example, an estimation of the $J/psi$-nucleon scattering length $alpha_{J/psi p}$ is provided within the vector meson dominance model. It results in $|alpha_{J/psi p}| = (3.08pm 0.55 ({rm stat.}) pm 0.45 ({rm syst.}))$~mfm.

The high accuracy $phi $-meson photoproduction data from the CLAS experiment in Hall~B of Jefferson Laboratory allow us to determine the near-threshold total cross section of the $gamma ptophi p$ reaction and use it for evaluating the $phi p$ scattering length $alpha_{phi p}$. These data result in an absolute value of $|alpha_{phi p}| = (0.063pm 0.010)$~fm, which is smaller than the typical hadron size. A comparative analysis of $alpha_{phi p}$ with the previously determined scattering lengths for $omega p$ and $J/psi p$ from the A2 and GlueX experiments is performed.

We discuss the procedure of extracting the photoproduction cross section for neutral pseudoscalar mesons off neutrons from deuteron data. The main statement is that the final-state interaction (FSI) corrections for the proton and neutron target are in general not equal, but for pi0 production there are special cases were they have to be identical and there are large regions in the parameter space of incident photon energy and pion polar angle, theta^*, where they happen to be quite similar. The corrections for both target nucleons are practically identical for $pi_0$ production in the energy range of the Delta(1232)3/2+ resonance due to the specific isospin structure of this excitation. Also above the $Delta$-isobar range large differences between proton and neutron correction factors are only predicted for extreme forward angles ($theta^*$ < 20 deg), but the results are similar for larger angles. Numerical results for the gp-->pi0p and gn-->pi0n correction factors are discussed. Also the model description for the available data on the differential gd-->pi0pn cross sections are given.
We study the inclusive J/psi production at large transverse momenta at lepton-hadron colliders in the limit when the exchange photon is quasi real, also referred to as photoproduction. Our computation includes the leading-P_T leading-v next-to-leading alpha_s corrections. In particular, we consider the contribution from J/psi plus another charm quark, by employing for the first time in quarkonium photoproduction the variable-flavour-number scheme. We also include a QED-induced contribution via an off-shell photon which remained ignored in the literature and which we show to be the leading contribution at high P_T within the reach of the EIC. In turn, we use our computation of J/psi+charm to demonstrate its observability at the future EIC and the EIC sensitivity to probe the non-perturbative charm content of the proton at high x.
A resonance-like structure, the P_c(4450), has recently been observed in the J/psi p spectrum by the LHCb collaboration. We discuss the feasibility of detecting this structure in J/psi photoproduction in the CLAS12 experiment at JLab. We present a first estimate of the upper limit for the branching ratio of the P_c(4450) to J/psi p. Our estimates, which take into account the experimental resolution effects, predict that it will be possible to observe a sizable cross section close to the J/psi production threshold and shed light on the P_c(4450) resonance in the future photoproduction measurements.
