Recent measurements of top quark properties at the LHC made with the ATLAS and CMS experiments are discussed. The presented results include top quark mass, width, top quark Yukawa coupling, forward-backward and charge asymmetries, spin correlations and polarization, and W boson polarization. The results are compared to the standard model predictions and limits on new physics from these measurements are also presented.
Measurements of several top-quark properties, obtained from the CMS data collected in 2011 and 2012 at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV are presented. The results include measurements of the top pair charge asymmetry, the W helicity in top quark decays and the search for anomalous couplings, the top quark charge, and of the ttbar spin correlation. The fraction of top quarks decaying into a W-boson and a b-quark relative to all top quark decays, R=Br(t->Wb)/Br(t->Wq), as well as, the cross sections of ttbar events produced in association with a photon or a W or a Z boson are also presented.
The top quark will be produced copiously at the LHC. This will make both detailed physics studies and the use of top quark decays for detector calibration possible. This talk reviews plans and prospects for top physics activities in the ATLAS and CMS experiments.
This paper reports the most recent measurements of single top quark production performed by CDF and D0 collaborations in proton-antiproton collisions at Tevatron. Events are selected in the lepton+jets final state by CDF and D0 and in the missing transverse energy plus jets final state by CDF. The small single top signal in s-channel, t-channel and inclusive s+t channel is separated from the large background by using different multivariate techniques. We also present the most recent results on extraction of the CKM matrix element $|V_{tb}|$ from the single top quark cross section.
We present measurements of the top quark mass based on 3.6 fb^-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We present results in the dilepton and lepton+jets final states. We also present the measurement of the mass difference between t and tbar quarks observed in lepton+jets final states of ttbar events in 1 fb^-1 of data.
Single top-quark t-channel production is exploited for studies of top quark properties. The analyses include the measurement of the CKM matrix element, $|V_{tb}|$, search for anomalous couplings of the top quark using a Bayesian neural network analysis, measurement of single top-quark polarization which directly confirms the V-A nature of the $tWb$ production vertex, and the measurement of W-helicity fractions in the phase space sampled by a selection optimized for t-channel single top-quark production, orthogonal to the $toverline{t}$ final states used in traditional measurements of these properties. All measurements are found to be consistent with the standard model predictions.
