A coupling of a scalar, charged under an unbroken global U(1) symmetry, to the Standard Model via the Higgs portal is one of the simplest gateways to a dark sector. Yet, for masses $m_{S}geq m_{H}/2$ there are few probes of such an interaction. In this note we evaluate the sensitivity to the Higgs portal coupling of di-Higgs boson production at the LHC as well as at a future high energy hadron collider, FCC-hh, taking into account the full momentum dependence of the process. This significantly impacts the sensitivity compared to estimates of changes in the Higgs-coupling based on the effective potential. We also compare our findings to precision single Higgs boson probes such as the cross section for vector boson associated Higgs production at a future lepton collider, e.g. FCC-ee, as well as searches for missing energy based signatures.

The Higgs pair production in gluon fusion is a sensitive probe of beyond-Standard Model (BSM) phenomena and its detection is a major goal for the LHC and higher energy hadron collider experiments. In this work we reanalyze the possible modifications of the Higgs pair production cross section within low energy supersymmetry models. We show that the supersymmetric contributions to the Higgs pair production cross section are strongly correlated with the ones of the single Higgs production in the gluon fusion channel. Motivated by the analysis of ATLAS and CMS Higgs production data, we show that the scalar superpartners contributions may lead to significant modification of the di-Higgs production rate and invariant mass distribution with respect to the SM predictions. We also analyze the combined effects on the di-Higgs production rate of a modification of the Higgs trilinear and top-quark Yukawa couplings in the presence of light stops. In particular, we show that due to the destructive interference of the triangle and box amplitude contributions to the di-Higgs production cross section, even a small modification of the top-quark Yukawa coupling can lead to a significant increase of the di-Higgs production rate.

We present results for Higgs boson pair production with variations of the trilinear Higgs boson self-coupling at next-to-leading order (NLO) in QCD including the full top quark mass dependence. Differential results at 14 TeV are presented, and we discuss the implications of anomalous trilinear couplings as well as differences between the PYTHIA 8.2 and HERWIG 7.1 parton showers in combination with POWHEG. The implementation of the NLO QCD calculation with variable Higgs boson self-coupling is made publicly available in the POWHEG-BOX-V2 Monte Carlo framework. A simple method for using the new implementation to study also variations of the top quark Yukawa coupling is described.
The search for di-Higgs final states is typically limited at the LHC to the dominant gluon fusion channels, with weak boson fusion only assuming a spectator role. In this work, we demonstrate that when it comes to searches for resonant structures that arise from iso-singlet mixing in the Higgs sector, the weak boson fusion sideline can indeed contribute to winning the discovery game. Extending existing experimental resonance searches by including both contributions is therefore crucial.
We perform a comprehensive study of collider aspects of a Higgs portal scenario that is protected by an unbroken ${mathbb{Z}}_2$ symmetry. If the mass of the Higgs portal scalar is larger than half the Higgs mass, this scenario becomes very difficult to detect. We provide a detailed investigation of the models parameter space based on analyses of the direct collider sensitivity at the LHC as well as at future lepton and hadron collider concepts and analyse the importance of these searches for this scenario in the context of expected precision Higgs and electroweak measurements. In particular we also consider the associated electroweak oblique corrections that we obtain in a first dedicated two-loop calculation for comparisons with the potential of, e.g., GigaZ. The currently available collider projections corroborate an FCC-hh 100 TeV as a very sensitive tool to search for such a weakly-coupled Higgs sector extension, driven by small statistical uncertainties over a large range of energy coverage. Crucially, however, this requires good theoretical control. Alternatively, Higgs signal-strength measurements at an optimal FCC-ee sensitivity level could yield comparable constraints.
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations of the LHC have observed that the Higgs boson decays into the bottom quark-antiquark pair, and have also established that the Higgs coupling with the top quark-antiquark pair is instrumental in one of the modes for Higgs production. This underlines the discovery of the Yukawa force at the LHC. We demonstrate the impact of this discovery on the Higgs properties that are related to the dynamics of electroweak symmetry breaking. We show that these measurements have considerably squeezed the allowed window for new physics contributing to the Higgs couplings with the weak gauge bosons and the third generation quarks. The expected constraints at the HL-LHC and future Higgs factories are also shown. We project these constraints on the parameter space of a few motivated scenarios beyond the Standard Model. We pick them under two broad categories, namely, the composite Higgs and its RS dual, as well as various types of multi-Higgs models. The latter category includes models with singlet scalars, Type I, II and BGL-type two-Higgs doublet models, and models with scalar triplets a la Georgi and Machacek.
