Morris & Thorne cite{morris1} proposed geometrical objects called traversable wormholes that act as bridges in connecting two spacetimes or two different points of the same spacetime. The geometrical properties of these wormholes depend upon the choice of the shape function. In literature, these are studied in modified gravities for different types of shape functions. In this paper, the traversable wormholes having shape function $b(r)=frac{r_0tanh(r)}{tanh(r_0)}$ are explored in $f(R)$ gravity with $f(R)=R+alpha R^m-beta R^{-n}$, where $alpha$, $beta$, $m$ and $n$ are real constants. For different values of constants in function $f(R)$, the analysis is done in various cases. In each case, the energy conditions, equation of state parameter and anisotropic parameter are determined.

The static spherically symmetric traversable wormholes are analysed in the Einstein- Cartan theory of gravitation. In particular, we computed the torsion tensor for matter fields with different spin S = 0; 1/2; 1; 3/2. Interestingly, only for certain values of the spin the torsion contribution to Einstein-Cartan field equation allows one to satisfy both faring-out condition and Null Energy Condition. In this scenario traversable wormholes can be produced by using usual (non-exotic) spinning matter.
We develop a number of novel black-bounce spacetimes. These are specific regular black holes where the area radius always remains non-zero, thereby leading to a throat that is either timelike (corresponding to a traversable wormhole), spacelike (corresponding to a bounce into a future universe), or null (corresponding to a one-way wormhole). We shall first perform a general analysis of the regularity conditions for such a spacetime, and then consider a number of specific examples. The examples are constructed using a mass function similar to that of Fan--Wang, and fall into several particular cases, such as the original Simpson--Visser model, a Bardeen-type model, and other generalizations thereof. We shall analyse the regularity, the energy conditions, and the causal structure of these models. The main results are several new geometries, more complex than before, with two or more horizons, with the possibility of an extremal case. We shall derive a general theorem regarding static space-time regularity, and another general theorem regarding (non)-satisfaction of the classical energy conditions.
In this work we propose the modelling of static wormholes within the $f(R,T)$ extended theory of gravity perspective. We present some models of wormholes, which are constructed from different hypothesis for their matter content, i.e., different relations for their pressure components (radial and lateral) and different equations of state. The solutions obtained for the shape function of the wormholes obey the necessary metric conditions. They show a behaviour similar to those found in previous references about wormholes, which also happens to our solutions for the energy density of such objects. We also apply the energy conditions for the wormholes physical content.
Wormholes are tunnels connecting two different points in space-time. In Einsteins General Relativity theory, wormholes are expected to be filled by exotic matter, i.e., matter that does not satisfy the energy conditions and may have negative density. We propose, in this paper, the achievement of wormhole solutions with no need for exotic matter. In order to achieve so, we consider quadratic terms in the trace of the energy-momentum tensor as corrections to the effective energy-momentum tensor of the underlined theory of gravity. We show that by following this formalism, it is possible, indeed, to obtain non-exotic matter wormhole solutions.
Energy conditions for matter fields are comprehensively investigated in arbitrary $n(ge 3)$ dimensions without specifying future and past directions locally. We classify an energy-momentum tensor into $n$-dimensional counterparts of the Hawking-Ellis type I to IV, where type III is defined by a more useful form than those adopted by Hawking and Ellis and other authors to identify the type-III energy-momentum tensor in a given spacetime. We also provide necessary and sufficient conditions for types I and II as inequalities for the orthonormal components of the energy-momentum tensor in a canonical form and show that types III and IV violate all the standard energy conditions. Lastly, we study energy conditions for a set of physically motivated matter fields.
