Using density functional plus dynamical mean-field theory method (DFT+DMFT) with full self-consistency over the charge density, we study the effect of electronic correlations on the electronic structure, magnetic properties, orbital-dependent band renormalizations, and Fermi surface of the tetragonal phase of bulk FeS. We perform a direct structural optimization of the $P_4/nmm$ crystal structure of paramagnetic FeS, with respect to the lattice constant $a$ and the internal coordinate $z_mathrm{S}$ of atom S. Our results show an anomalous sensitivity of the electronic structure and magnetic properties of FeS to fine details of its crystals structure. Upon expansion of the lattice volume, we observe a remarkable change of the electronic structure of FeS which is associated with a complete reconstruction of the Fermi surface topology (Lifshitz transition). This behavior is ascribed to a correlation-induced shift of the Van Hove singularity associated with the Fe $t_2$ orbitals at the $M$ point across the Fermi level. The Lifshitz phase transition is accompanied by a significant growth of local magnetic moments and emergence of strong orbital-selective correlations. It is seen as a pronounced anomaly (`kink) in the total energies upon expansion of the lattice, associated with a remarkable enhancement of compressibility. This behavior is accompanied by an orbital-dependent formation of local moments, a crossover from itinerant to localized orbital-selective moment behavior of the Fe $3d$ electrons. While exhibiting weak effective mass enhancement of the Fe $3d$ states $m^*/m sim 1.3-1.4$, correlation effects reveal a strong impact on a position of the Van Hove singularity at the $M$ point, implying a complex interplay between electronic correlations and band structure effects in FeS.

We investigate the normal state of the superconducting compound PuCoGa$_5$ using the combination of density functional theory (DFT) and dynamical mean field theory (DMFT), with the continuous time quantum Monte Carlo (CTQMC) and the vertex-corrected one-crossing approximation (OCA) as the impurity solvers. Our DFT+DMFT(CTQMC) calculations suggest a strong tendency of Pu-5$f$ orbitals to differentiate at low temperatures. The renormalized 5$f_{5/2}$ states exhibit a Fermi-liquid behavior whereas one electron in the 5$f_{7/2}$ states is at the edge of a Mott localization. We find that the orbital differentiation is manifested as the removing of 5$f_{7/2}$ spectral weight from the Fermi level relative to DFT. We corroborate these conclusions with DFT+DMFT(OCA) calculations which demonstrate that 5$f_{5/2}$ electrons have a much larger Kondo scale than the 5$f_{7/2}$.
The transport and magnetic properties of the tetragonal Fe$_{1+delta}$S were investigated using magnetoresistivity and magnetization within 2$leq Tleq $300 K, $Hleq$70 kOe and $Pleq$ 3.0 GPa. In addition, room-temperature X-ray diffraction and photoelectron spectroscopy were also applied. In contrast to previously reported nonmetallic character, Fe$_{1+delta}$S is intrinsically metallic but due to a presence of a weak localization such metallic character is not exhibited below room temperature. An applied pressure reduces strongly this additional resistive contribution and as such enhances the temperature range of the metallic character which, for $sim$3 GPa, is evident down to 75 K. The absence of superconductivity as well as the mechanism behind the weak localization will be discussed.

Here we report the electronic structure of FeS, a recently identified iron-based superconductor. Our high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy studies show two hole-like ($alpha$ and $beta$) and two electron-like ($eta$ and $delta$) Fermi pockets around the Brillouin zone center and corner, respectively, all of which exhibit moderate dispersion along $k_z$. However, a third hole-like band ($gamma$) is not observed, which is expected around the zone center from band calculations and is common in iron-based superconductors. Since this band has the highest renormalization factor and is known to be the most vulnerable to defects, its absence in our data is likely due to defect scattering --- and yet superconductivity can exist without coherent quasiparticles in the $gamma$ band. This may help resolve the current controversy on the superconducting gap structure of FeS. Moreover, by comparing the $beta$ bandwidths of various iron chalcogenides, including FeS, FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_x$, FeSe, and FeSe$_{1-x}$ Te$_x$, we find that the $beta$ bandwidth of FeS is the broadest. However, the band renormalization factor of FeS is still quite large, when compared with the band calculations, which indicates sizable electron correlations. This explains why the unconventional superconductivity can persist over such a broad range of isovalent substitution in FeSe$_{1-x}$Te$_{x}$ and FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_{x}$.

We discuss the spectral, transport and magnetic properties of quantum nanowires composed of Nleq 13 atoms and containing either even or odd numbers of valence electrons. In our approach we combine Exact Diagonalization and Ab Initio calculations (EDABI method). The analysis is performed as a function of the interatomic distance. The momentum distribution differs drastically for those obtained for even N with those for odd N, whereas the Drude weight evolves smoothly. A role of boundary conditions is stressed.
Laser angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is employed to investigate the temperature (T) dependence of the electronic structure in BaFe2As2 across the magneto-structural transition at TN ~ 140 K. A drastic transformation in Fermi surface (FS) shape across TN is observed, as expected by first-principles band calculations. Polarization-dependent ARPES and band calculations consistently indicate that the observed FSs at kz ~ pi in the low-T antiferromagnetic (AF) state are dominated by the Fe3dzx orbital, leading to the two-fold electronic structure. These results indicate that magneto-structural transition in BaFe2As2 accompanies orbital-dependent modifications in the electronic structure.
