We propose a simple exact analytical solution for a model consisting of a two-level system and a polychromatically driving field. It helps us to realize a rapid complete population transfer from the ground state to the excited state, and the system can be stable at the excited state for an extremely long time. A combination of the mechanism and the Rydberg atoms successfully prepares the Bell state and multipartite $W$ state, and the experimental feasibility is discussed via the current experimental parameters. Finally, the simple exact analytical solution is generalized into a three-level system, which leads to a significant enhancement of the robustness against dissipation.

We study the dynamics of a two-level quantum system under the influence of sinusoidal driving in the intermediate frequency regime. Analyzing the Floquet quasienergy spectrum, we find combinations of the field parameters for which population transfer is optimal and takes place through a series of well defined steps of fixed duration. We also show how the corresponding evolution operator can be approximated at all times by a very simple analytical expression. We propose this model as being specially suitable for treating periodic driving at avoided crossings found in complex multi-level systems, and thus show a relevant application of our results to designing a control protocol in a realistic molecular model
A remarkably simple result is found for the optimal protocol of drivings for a general two-level Hamiltonian which transports a given initial state to a given final state in minimal time. If one of the three possible drivings is unconstrained in strength the problem is analytically completely solvable. A surprise arises for a class of states when one driving is bounded by a constant $c$ and the other drivings are constant. Then, for large $c$, the optimal driving is of type bang-off-bang and for increasing $c$ one recovers the unconstrained result. However, for smaller $c$ the optimal driving can suddenly switch to bang-bang type. It is also shown that for general states one may have a multistep protocol. The present paper explicitly proves and considerably extends the authors results contained in Phys. Rev. Lett. {bf 111}, 260501 (2013).
In this paper we propose a new protocol to achieve coherent population transfer between two states in a three-level atom by using two ac fields. It is based on the physics of Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP), but it is implemented with the constraint of a reduced control, namely one of the fields cannot be switched off. A combination of frequency chirps is used with resonant fields, allowing to achieve approximate destructive interference, despite of the fact that an exact dark state does not exist. This new chirped STIRAP protocol is tailored for applications to artificial atoms, where architectures with several elementary units can be strongly coupled but where the possibility of switching on and off such couplings is often very limited. Demonstration of this protocol would be a benchmark for the implementation of a class of multilevel advanced control procedures for quantum computation and microwave quantum photonics in artificial atoms.
A remarkably simple result is derived for the minimal time $T_{rm min}$ required to drive a general initial state to a final target state by a Landau-Zener type Hamiltonian or, equivalently, by time-dependent laser driving. The associated protocol is also derived. A surprise arises for some states when the interaction strength is assumed to be bounded by a constant $c$. Then, for large $c$, the optimal driving is of type bang-off-bang and for increasing $c$ one recovers the unconstrained result. However, for smaller $c$ the optimal driving can suddenly switch to bang-bang type. We discuss the notion of quantum speed limit time.
We address the textbook problem of dynamics of a spin placed in a dc magnetic field and subjected to an ac drive. If the drive is polarized in the plane perpendicular to the dc field, the drive photons are resonantly absorbed when the spacing between the Zeeman levels is close to the photon energy. This is the only resonance when the drive is circularly polarized. For linearly polarized drive, additional resonances corresponding to absorption of three, five, and multiple odd numbers of photons is possible. Interaction with the environment causes the broadening of the absorption lines. We demonstrate that the interaction with environment enables the forbidden two-photon absorption. We adopt a model of the environment in the form of random telegraph noise produced by a single fluctuator. As a result of the synchronous time fluctuations of different components of the random field, the shape of the two-photon absorption line is non-Lorentzian and depends dramatically on the drive amplitude. This shape is a monotonic curve at strong drive, while, at weak drive, it develops a two-peak structure reminiscent of an induced transparency on resonance.
