Recently the influence of antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling has been studied in novel topological superconductors such as half-Heuslers and artificial hetero-structures. We investigate the effect of Rashba and/or Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings on the band structure and topological properties of a two-dimensional noncentrosymetric superconductor. For this goal, the topological helical edge modes are analyzed for different spin-orbit couplings as well as for several superconducting pairing symmetries. To explore the transport properties, we examine the response of the spin-polarized edge states to an exchange field in a superconductor-ferromagnet heterostructure. The broken chiral symmetry causes the uni-directional currents at opposite edges.

We report Raman scattering measurement of charge nematic fluctuations in the tetragonal phase of BaFe$_2$As$_2$ and Sr(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$As$_2$ (x=0.04) single crystals. In both systems, the observed nematic fluctuations are found to exhibit divergent Curie-Weiss like behavior with very similar characteristic temperature scales, indicating a universal tendency towards charge nematic order in 122 iron-based superconductors.

It is shown theoretically that ferromagnetic superconductors, UGe$_2$, URhGe, and UCoGe can be described in terms of the A-phase like triplet pairing similar to superfluid $^3$He in a unified way, including peculiar reentrant, S-shape, or L-shape $H_{rm c2}$ curves. The associated double transition inevitable between the A$_1$ and A$_2$-phases in the $H$-$T$ plane is predicted, both of which are characterized by non-unitary state with broken time reversal symmetry and the half-gap. UTe$_2$, which has been discovered quite recently to be a spin-polarized superconductor, is analyzed successively in the same view point, pointing out that the expected A$_1$-A$_2$ transition is indeed emerging experimentally. Thus the four heavy Fermion compounds all together are entitled to be topologically rich solid state materials worth further investigating together with superfluid $^3$He A-phase.
We report superconductivity in the ternary half-Heusler compound LuPtBi, with Tc = 1.0 K and Hc2 = 1.6 T. The crystal structure of LuPtBi lacks inversion symmetry, hence the material is a noncentrosymmetric superconductor. Magnetotransport data show semimetallic behavior in the normal state, which is evidence for the importance of spin-orbit interaction. Theoretical calculations indicate that the strong spin-orbit interaction in LuPtBi should cause strong band inversion, making this material a promising candidate for 3D topological superconductivity.

A time periodic driving on a topologically trivial system induces edge modes and topological properties. In this work we consider triplet and singlet superconductors subject to periodic variations of the chemical potential, spin-orbit coupling and magnetization, in both topologically trivial and nontrivial phases, and study their influence on the charge and spin currents that propagate along the edges of the two-dimensional system, for moderate to large driving frequencies. Currents associated with the edge modes are induced in the trivial phases and enhanced in the topological phases. In some cases there is a sign reversal of the currents as a consequence of the periodic driving. The edge states associated with the finite quasi-energy states at the edge of the Floquet zone are in general robust, while the stability of the zero quasi-energy states depends on the parameters. Also, the spin polarization of the Floquet spectrum quasi-energies is strong as for the unperturbed topological phases. It is found that in some cases the unperturbed edge states are immersed in a continuum of states due to the perturbation, particularly if the driving frequency is not large enough. However, their contribution to the edge currents and spin polarization is still significant.
We use polarized neutron scattering to demonstrate that in-plane spin excitations in electron doped superconducting BaFe1.904Ni0.096As2 (Tc=19.8 K) change from isotropic to anisotropic in the tetragonal phase well above the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordering and tetragonal-to-orthorhombic lattice distortion temperatures (Tn=Ts=33 K) without an uniaxial pressure. While the anisotropic spin excitations are not sensitive to the AF order and tetragonal-to-orthorhombic lattice distortion, superconductivity induces further anisotropy for spin excitations along the [1,1,0] and [1,-1,0] directions. These results indicate that the spin excitation anisotropy is a probe of the electronic anisotropy or orbital ordering in the tetragonal phase of iron pnictides.
