A multiresolution analysis is a nested chain of related approximation spaces. This nesting in turn implies relationships among interpolation bases in the approximation spaces and their derived wavelet spaces. Using these relationships, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for existence of interpolation wavelets, via analysis of the corresponding scaling functions. It is also shown that any interpolation function for an approximation space plays the role of a special type of scaling function (an interpolation scaling function) when the corresponding family of approximation spaces forms a multiresolution analysis. Based on these interpolation scaling functions, a new algorithm is proposed for constructing corresponding interpolation wavelets (when they exist in a multiresolution analysis). In simulations, our theorems are tested for several typical wavelet spaces, demonstrating our theorems for existence of interpolation wavelets and for constructing them in a general multiresolution analysis.

We study the two primary families of spaces of finite element differential forms with respect to a simplicial mesh in any number of space dimensions. These spaces are generalizations of the classical finite element spaces for vector fields, frequently referred to as Raviart-Thomas, Brezzi-Douglas-Marini, and Nedelec spaces. In the present paper, we derive geometric decompositions of these spaces which lead directly to explicit local bases for them, generalizing the Bernstein basis for ordinary Lagrange finite elements. The approach applies to both families of finite element spaces, for arbitrary polynomial degree, arbitrary order of the differential forms, and an arbitrary simplicial triangulation in any number of space dimensions. A prominent role in the construction is played by the notion of a consistent family of extension operators, which expresses in an abstract framework a sufficient condition for deriving a geometric decomposition of a finite element space leading to a local basis.
In this paper we consider interpolation in model spaces, $H^2 ominus B H^2$ with $B$ a Blaschke product. We study unions of interpolating sequences for two sequences that are far from each other in the pseudohyperbolic metric as well as two sequences that are close to each other in the pseudohyperbolic metric. The paper concludes with a discussion of the behavior of Frostman sequences under perturbations.
We prove thatthe Banach space $(oplus_{n=1}^infty ell_p^n)_{ell_q}$, which is isomorphic to certain Besov spaces, has a greedy basis whenever $1leq p leqinfty$ and $1<q<infty$. Furthermore, the Banach spaces $(oplus_{n=1}^infty ell_p^n)_{ell_1}$, with $1<ple infty$, and $(oplus_{n=1}^infty ell_p^n)_{c_0}$, with $1le p<infty$ do not have a greedy bases. We prove as well that the space $(oplus_{n=1}^infty ell_p^n)_{ell_q}$ has a 1-greedy basis if and only if $1leq p=qle infty$.
We study the problem of improving the greedy constant or the democracy constant of a basis of a Banach space by renorming. We prove that every Banach space with a greedy basis can be renormed, for a given $vare>0$, so that the basis becomes $(1+vare)$-democratic, and hence $(2+vare)$-greedy, with respect to the new norm. If in addition the basis is bidemocratic, then there is a renorming so that in the new norm the basis is $(1+vare)$-greedy. We also prove that in the latter result the additional assumption of the basis being bidemocratic can be removed for a large class of bases. Applications include the Haar systems in $L_p[0,1]$, $1<p<infty$, and in dyadic Hardy space $H_1$, as well as the unit vector basis of Tsirelson space.
Expected duality and approximation properties are shown to fail on Bergman spaces of domains in $mathbb{C}^n$, via examples. When the domain admits an operator satisfying certain mapping properties, positive duality and approximation results are proved. Such operators are constructed on generalized Hartogs triangles. On a general bounded Reinhardt domain, norm convergence of Laurent series of Bergman functions is shown. This extends a classical result on Hardy spaces of the unit disc.
