We present low-resolution phase-resolved spectra of the polar MT Dra during its high states in 2006 and 2009. Balmer series, He I and He II 4686 AA emission lines have complex shapes and show similar profile variations over an orbital cycle. The radial velocities vary with orbital period and display motions of the gas falling close to the magnetic poles of the white dwarf.

We report an analysis of two poorly studied systems GSC 04396-00605 and GSC 04395-00485, which were recently named as V0455 Dra and V0454 Dra, respectively. For two eclipsing stars, the periods and epochs were significantly corrected using our extensive data. The phenomenological characteristics of the mean light curves were determined using the New Algol Variable (NAV) algorithm. The individual times of Maxima/Minima (ToM) were determined using the newly developed software MAVKA, which outputs the accurate parameters using the asymptotic parabola approximations. The light curves were approximated using the Wilson-Devinney model, the best fit parameters are listed. For both systems, the presence of the dark spot is justified, the parameters are estimated. Both systems classified to be overcontact binaries of EW type. The observations were obtained using the 1-m Korean telescope of the LOAO while monitoring the cataclysmic variable DO Dra within the Inter-Longitude Astronomy (ILA) project.
Optical spectra of the 2006 outburst of RS Ophiuchi beginning one day after discovery to over a year after the outburst are presented here. The spectral evolution is found to be similar to that in previous outbursts. The early phase spectra are dominated by hydrogen and helium (I & II) lines. Coronal and nebular lines appear in the later phases. Emission line widths are found to narrow with time, which is interpreted as a shock expanding into the red giant wind. Using the photoionisation code CLOUDY, spectra at nine epochs spanning 14 months after the outburst peak, thus covering a broad range of ionisation and excitation levels in the ejecta, are modelled. The best-fit model parameters indicate the presence of a hot white dwarf source with a roughly constant luminosity of 1.26 x 10^{37} erg/s. During first three months, the abundances (by number) of He, N, O, Ne, Ar, Fe, Ca, S and Ni are found above solar abundances; abundances of these elements decreased in the later phase. Also presented are spectra obtained during quiescence. Photoionisation model of the quiescence spectrum indicates the presence of a low luminosity accretion disk. The helium abundance is found to be subsolar at quiescence.
Precision measurements of the electron component in the cosmic radiation provide important information about the origin and propagation of cosmic rays in the Galaxy not accessible from the study of the cosmic-ray nuclear components due to their differing diffusion and energy-loss processes. However, when measured near Earth, the effects of propagation and modulation of galactic cosmic rays in the heliosphere, particularly significant for energies up to at least 30 GeV, must be properly taken into account. In this paper the electron (e^-) spectra measured by PAMELA down to 70 MeV from July 2006 to December 2009 over six-months time intervals are presented. Fluxes are compared with a state-of-the-art three-dimensional model of solar modulation that reproduces the observations remarkably well.
We present the results of photometry, linear spectropolarimetry, and imaging circular polarimetry ofcomet C/2009 P1 (Garradd) performed at the 6-m telescope BTA of the Special Astrophysical Observatory(Russia) equipped by the multi-mode focal reducer SCORPIO-2. The comet was observed at two epochspost-perihelion: on February 2-14, 2012 at r=1.6 au and {alpha}=36 {deg}; and on April 14-21, 2012 at r=2.2 au and {alpha}=27 deg. The spatial maps of the relative intensity and circular polarization as well as the spectral distribution of linear polarization are presented. There were two features (dust and gas tails) orientedin the solar and antisolar directions on February 2 and 14 that allowed us to determine rotation periodof the nucleus as 11.1 hours. We detected emissions of C2 , C3 , CN, CH, NH2 molecules as well as CO+ and H2O+ ions, along with a high level of the dust continuum. On February 2, the degree of linear polarization in the continuum, within the wavelength range of 0.67-0.68 {mu}m, was about 5% in the near-nucleus region up to near 6000 km and decreased to about 3% at near 40,000 km. The left-handed (negative) circular polarization at the level approximately from -0.06% to -0.4% was observed at the distances up to 3*10^4 km from the nucleus on February 14 and April 21, respectively.
We present the results from the spectroscopic follow-up of WR140 (WC7 + O4-5) during its last periastron passage in January 2009. This object is known as the archetype of colliding wind binaries and has a relatively large period (~ 8 years) and eccentricity (~ 0.89). We provide updated values for the orbital parameters, new estimates for the WR and O star masses and new constraints on the mass-loss rates.
