Combining experiments and ab initio models we report on $rm SrPt_4Ge_{12}$ and $rm BaPt_4Ge_{12}$ as members of a novel class of superconducting skutterudites, where Sr or Ba atoms stabilize a framework entirely formed by Ge-atoms. Below $T_c=5.35$ K, and 5.10 K for $rm BaPt_4Ge_{12}$ and $rm SrPt_4Ge_{12}$, respectively, electron-phonon coupled superconductivity emerges, ascribed to intrinsic features of the Pt-Ge framework, where Ge-$p$ states dominate the electronic structure at the Fermi energy.

Thermal conductivity measurements were performed on single crystal samples of the superconducting filled skutterudite compounds PrOs$_4$Sb$_{12}$ and PrRu$_4$Sb$_{12}$ both as a function of temperature and magnetic field applied perpendicular to the heat current. In zero magnetic field, the low temperature electronic thermal conductivity of PrRu$_4$Sb$_{12}$ is vanishingly small, consistent with a fully-gapped Fermi surface. For PrOs$_4$Sb$_{12}$, however, we find clear evidence for residual electronic conduction as the temperature tends to zero Kelvin which is consistent with the presence of nodes in the superconducting energy gap. The field dependence of the electronic conductivity for both compounds shows a rapid rise immediately above H$_{c1}$ and significant structure over the entire vortex state. In the fully gapped superconductor PrRu$_4$Sb$_{12}$, this is interpreted in terms of multi-band effects. In PrOs$_4$Sb$_{12}$, we consider the Doppler shift of nodal quasiparticles at low fields and multiband effects at higher fields.
We report on synthesis and characterization of gallide cluster based Mo8Ga41 superconductor. Transport and magnetization measurements confirm the superconducting transition temperature to be 9.8 K. The upper critical field, lower critical field, Ginzburg-Landau coherence length and penetration depth are estimated to be 11.8T, 150G, 5.2nm, 148nm respectively. The electronic band structure, density of states and phonon dispersion curve calculations are obtained by using Density Functional Theory. The core level X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) reveals the binding energy information of the constituting elements Mo and Ga in Mo8Ga41. The valence band spectra from XPS is in good agreement with calculated density of states (DOS). The zero field critical current density (Jc) at T = 2 K is ~ 3*10^5 A/cm^2 which is indicative of efficient flux pinning in the as grown compound. About two fold enhancement in critical current density with application of external pressure (1.1 GPa) is observed with marginal decrease in transition temperature. The fitting of current density to double exponential model confirms possibility of two gap superconductivity in Mo8Ga41.
Superconducting bismuthates (Ba,K)BiO$_{3}$ (BKBO) constitute an interesting class of superconductors in that superconductivity with a remarkably high $T_mathrm{c}$ of 30 K arises in proximity to charge density wave (CDW) order. Prior understanding on the driving mechanism of the CDW and superconductivity emphasizes the role of either bismuth (negative $U$ model) or oxygen ions (ligand hole model). While holes in BKBO presumably reside on oxygen owing to their negative charge transfer energy, so far there has been no other comparative material studied. Here, we introduce (Ba,K)SbO$_{3}$ (BKSO) in which the Sb 5$s$ orbital energy is higher than that of the Bi 6$s$ orbitals enabling tuning of the charge transfer energy from negative to slightly positive. The parent compound BaSbO$_{3-delta}$ shows a larger CDW gap compared to the undoped bismuthate BaBiO$_{3}$. As the CDW order is suppressed via potassium substitution up to 65 %, superconductivity emerges, rising up to $T_mathrm{c}$ = 15 K. This value is lower than the maximum $T_mathrm{c}$ of BKBO, but higher by more than a factor of two at comparable potassium concentrations. The discovery of an enhanced CDW gap and superconductivity in BKSO indicates that the sign of the charge transfer energy may not be crucial, but instead strong metal-oxygen covalency plays the essential role in constituting a CDW and high-$T_mathrm{c}$ superconductivity in the main-group perovskite oxides.

We synthesized Sr-doped $La_{0.85}Sr_{0.15}OFeAs$ sample with single phase, and systematically studied the effect of oxygen deficiency in the Sr-doped LaOFeAs system. It is found that substitution of Sr for La indeed induces the hole carrier evidenced by positive thermoelectric power (TEP), but no bulk superconductivity is observed. The superconductivity can be realized by annealing the as-grown sample in vacuum to produce the oxygen deficiency. With increasing the oxygen deficiency, the superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) increases and maximum $T_c$ reaches about 26 K the same as that in La(O,F)FeAs. TEP dramatically changes from positive to negative in the nonsuperconducting as-grown sample to the superconducting samples with oxygen deficiency. While $R_H$ is always negative for all samples (even for Sr-doped as grown sample). It suggests that the $La_{0.85}Sr_{0.15}O_{1-delta}FeAs$ is still electron-type superconductor.

Strontium intercalation between van der Waals bonded layers of topological insulator Bi2Se3 is found to induce superconductivity with a maximum Tc of 2.9 K. Transport measurement on single crystal of optimally doped sample Sr0.1Bi2Se3 shows weak anisotropy (1.5) and upper critical field Hc2(0) equals to 2.1 T for magnetic field applied per-pendicular to c -axis of the sample. The Ginzburg-Landau coherence lengths are Xi-ab = 15.3 {AA} and Xi_c = 10.2 {AA}. The lower critical field and zero temperature penetration depth Lambda(0) are estimated to be 0.35 mT and 1550 nm respectively. Hall and Seebeck measurements confirm the dominance of electronic conduction and the carrier concentration is surprisingly low (n = 1.85 x 10^19 cm-3) at 10 K indicating possibility of unconventional superconductivity.
