Conrad and "Allegorical Women"


Abstract in English

The present study shows the influence of Conrad's identification with "ships," on his gaining insights into femininity and on representing female characters in his fiction. These ships are interestingly referred to by Conrad in The Mirror of the Sea as "allegorical women".
