Mythical Characters in T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land

Abstract in English

The mythical characters used by T.S. Eliot form the structure of The Waste Land and the underlying structure which stands as the pillar of the poem. The theme of sameness, in Eliot's opinion, dominates the whole world – past, present and future. In achieving this, Eliot uses characters from the past, such as Sybil and Tiresias, and apply them to contemporary characters.
