A openchained Bispyridyl ether has been synthesized using ٢،٢- bis [٢-cyanoethoxy]- diethylether as an intermediate from the reaction of acrylonitrile with Diethylene glycol The heterocyclization of ٢،٢- bis [٢-cyanoethoxy]- diethylether and acetylene catalyzed by cyclopentadienyl-١،٥-cis,cis-cyclooctadiene-cobalt(I) and light has been studied in toluene as solvent. The Nitrile gave results of interest in the preparation of the openchained bispyridyl ether compound ٢,٢-bis [٢-pyridylethoxy]-deithylether.
