Correlation of Somatic Cell Counts to Other Methods for Detection of Subclinical Mastitis in Syrian Awassi Ewe Milk

Abstract in English

Thirty native Awassi yearlings, without previous pregnancy or servicing were used to study the level of somatic cell counts (SCC) in milk and their relation to the other methods for detection of subclinical mastitis during the first lactation . These results confirmed that SCC in milk and CMT can be used as reliable methods for detecting subclinical mastitis in Awassi ewes . ER and percentage of lactose are less accurate than CMT in detection of subclinical mastitis.
