Analysis of the technical efficiency of container ports using Stochastic Frontier Analysis

Abstract in English

The researcher analyzed the technical efficiency of container ports, place where various modes of transportation in a series of international multimodal transport, and increasingly important with the growing interest in the transfer of global economy products by containers. Search has been applied on 61 container port in the Mediterranean, The research variables from the input side was: number of cranes, quays lengths and port area, and from the output side was: the number of containers, and the additional variables were: the quality of roads and railways in addition to the availability and use of technology communications in the process. The research has been used Stochastic Frontier Analysis in efficiency measurement and analysis of influences. The research found a positive correlation between the efficiency of the container port and the quality of road networks between transit and rail up the container port areas of Foreign Affairs, in addition to the port over the application and use of communications technology in operations.
