In this note, we discuss implications of the results obtained in [MTV4]. It was shown there that eigenvectors of the Bethe algebra of the quantum gl_N Gaudin model are in a one-to-one correspondence with Fuchsian differential operators with polynomial kernel. Here, we interpret this fact as a separation of variables in the gl_N Gaudin model. Having a Fuchsian differential operator with polynomial kernel, we construct the corresponding eigenvector of the Bethe algebra. It was shown in [MTV4] that the Bethe algebra has simple spectrum if the evaluation parameters of the Gaudin model are generic. In that case, our Bethe ansatz construction produces an eigenbasis of the Bethe algebra.

We introduce and study a category $text{Fin}$ of modules of the Borel subalgebra of a quantum affine algebra $U_qmathfrak{g}$, where the commutative algebra of Drinfeld generators $h_{i,r}$, corresponding to Cartan currents, has finitely many characteristic values. This category is a natural extension of the category of finite-dimensional $U_qmathfrak{g}$ modules. In particular, we classify the irreducible objects, discuss their properties, and describe the combinatorics of the q-characters. We study transfer matrices corresponding to modules in $text{Fin}$. Among them we find the Baxter $Q_i$ operators and $T_i$ operators satisfying relations of the form $T_iQ_i=prod_j Q_j+ prod_k Q_k$. We show that these operators are polynomials of the spectral parameter after a suitable normalization. This allows us to prove the Bethe ansatz equations for the zeroes of the eigenvalues of the $Q_i$ operators acting in an arbitrary finite-dimensional representation of $U_qmathfrak{g}$.
We present a numerical approach which allows the solving of Bethe equations whose solutions define the eigenstates of Gaudin models. By focusing on a new set of variables, the canceling divergences which occur for certain values of the coupling strength no longer appear explicitly. The problem is thus reduced to a set of quadratic algebraic equations. The required inverse transformation can then be realized using only linear operations and a standard polynomial root finding algorithm. The method is applied to Richardsons fermionic pairing model, the central spin model and generalized Dicke model.

We derive a number of results related to the Gaudin model associated to the simple Lie algebra of type G$_2$. We compute explicit formulas for solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations associated to the tensor product of an arbitrary finite-dimensional irreducible module and the vector representation. We use this result to show that the Bethe ansatz is complete in any tensor product where all but one factor are vector representations and the evaluation parameters are generic. We show that the points of the spectrum of the Gaudin model in type G$_2$ are in a bijective correspondence with self-self-dual spaces of polynomials. We study the set of all self-self-dual spaces - the self-self-dual Grassmannian. We establish a stratification of the self-self-dual Grassmannian with the strata labeled by unordered sets of dominant integral weights and unordered sets of nonnegative integers, satisfying certain explicit conditions. We describe closures of the strata in terms of representation theory.

A theorem of Feigin, Frenkel and Reshetikhin provides expressions for the eigenvalues of the higher Gaudin Hamiltonians on the Bethe vectors in terms of elements of the center of the affine vertex algebra at the critical level. In our recent work, explicit Harish-Chandra images of generators of the center were calculated in all classical types. We combine these results to calculate the eigenvalues of the higher Gaudin Hamiltonians on the Bethe vectors in an explicit form. The Harish-Chandra images can be interpreted as elements of classical $W$-algebras. We provide a direct connection between the rings of $q$-characters and classical $W$-algebras by calculating classical limits of the corresponding screening operators.
