We present a new real space renormalization-group map, on the space of probabilities, to study the renormalization of the SUSY phi^4. In our approach we use the random walk representation on a lattice labeled by an ultrametric space. Our method can be extended to any phi^n. New stochastic meaning is given to the parameters involved in the flow of the map and results are provided.

The next to the leading order Casimir effect for a real scalar field, within $phi^4$ theory, confined between two parallel plates is calculated in one spatial dimension. Here we use the Greens function with the Dirichlet boundary condition on both walls. In this paper we introduce a systematic perturbation expansion in which the counterterms automatically turn out to be consistent with the boundary conditions. This will inevitably lead to nontrivial position dependence for physical quantities, as a manifestation of the breaking of the translational invariance. This is in contrast to the usual usage of the counterterms, in problems with nontrivial boundary conditions, which are either completely derived from the free cases or at most supplemented with the addition of counterterms only at the boundaries. We obtain emph{finite} results for the massive and massless cases, in sharp contrast to some of the other reported results. Secondly, and probably less importantly, we use a supplementary renormalization procedure in addition to the usual regularization and renormalization programs, which makes the usage of any analytic continuation techniques unnecessary.

We consider a symmetric scalar theory with quartic coupling in 4-dimensions. We show that the 4 loop 2PI calculation can be done using a renormalization group method. The calculation involves one bare coupling constant which is introduced at the level of the Lagrangian and is therefore conceptually simpler than a standard 2PI calculation, which requires multiple counterterms. We explain how our method can be used to do the corresponding calculation at the 4PI level, which cannot be done using any known method by introducing counterterms.
The $phi^4$ model is coupled to an impurity in a way that preserves one-half of the BPS property. This means that the antikink-impurity bound state is still a BPS solution, i.e., a zero-pressure solution saturating the topological energy bound. The kink-impurity bound state, on the other hand, does not saturate the bound, in general. We found that, although the impurity breaks translational invariance, it is, in some sense, restored in the BPS sector where the energy of the antikink-impurity solution does not depend on their mutual distance. This is reflected in the existence of a generalised translational symmetry and a zero mode. We also investigate scattering processes. In particular, we compare the antikink-impurity interaction close to the BPS regime, which presents a rather smooth, elastic like nature, with other scattering processes. However, even in this case, after exciting a sufficiently large linear mode on the incoming antikink, we can depart from the close-to-BPS regime. This results, for example, in a backward scattering.

A nonperturbative renormalization of the phi^4 model is considered. First we integrate out only a single pair of conjugated modes with wave vectors +/- q. Then we are looking for the RG equation which would describe the transformation of the Hamiltonian under the integration over a shell Lambda - d Lambda < k < Lambda, where d Lambda -> 0. We show that the known Wegner--Houghton equation is consistent with the assumption of a simple superposition of the integration results for +/- q. The renormalized action can be expanded in powers of the phi^4 coupling constant u in the high temperature phase at u -> 0. We compare the expansion coefficients with those exactly calculated by the diagrammatic perturbative method, and find some inconsistency. It causes a question in which sense the Wegner-Houghton equation is really exact.
