The effective action describing the long range fluctuations in the high temperature phase of the electroweak standard theory is a strongly coupled SU(2)-Higgs-model in three dimensions. We outline in detail a model in which the spatial correlation scales in this phase are calculated as inverse relativistic bound state masses. Selection rules for these states are derived. The correlation masses are calculated by evaluating the bound state Greens function. The scalar-scalar-potential and its influence on the masses is investigated. The predictions for the correlation masses agree very well with the lattice data available now.

The high temperature phase of the electroweak standard theory is described by a strongly coupled SU(2)-Higgs-model in three dimensions. As in the Abbott-Farhi-model Higgs and W-boson are low lying bound states. Using a method by Simonov based on the Feynman-Schwinger representation of correlators we calculate the masses of these states. Our results are compared with lattice masses.

We establish the non-perturbative validity of the gauge anomaly cancellation condition in an effective electroweak theory of massless fermions with finite momentum cut-off and Fermi interaction. The requirement that the current is conserved up to terms smaller than the energy divided by the cut-off scale, which is the natural condition as gauge invariance is only emerging, produces the same constraint on charges as in the Standard Model. The result holds at a non-perturbative level as the functional integrals are expressed by convergent power series expansions and are analytic in a finite domain.

We perform a non-perturbative chiral study of the masses of the lightest pseudoscalar mesons. In the calculation of the self-energies we employ the S-wave meson-meson amplitudes taken from Unitary Chiral Perturbation Theory (UCHPT) that include the lightest nonet of scalar resonances. Values for the bare masses of pions and kaons are obtained, as well as an estimate of the mass of the eta_8. The former are found to dominate the physical pseudoscalar masses. We then match to the self-energies from Chiral Perturbation Theory (CHPT) to O(p^4), and a robust relation between several O(p^4) CHPT counterterms is obtained. We also resum higher orders from our calculated self-energies. By taking into account values determined from previous chiral phenomenological studies of m_s/hat{m} and 3L_7+L^r_8, we determine a tighter region of favoured values for the O(p^4) CHPT counterterms 2L^r_6-L^r_4 and 2L^r_8-L^r_5. This determination perfectly overlaps with the recent determinations to O(p^6) in CHPT. We warn about a likely reduction in the value of m_s/hat{m} by higher loop diagrams and that this is not systematically accounted for by present lattice extrapolations. We also provide a favoured interval of values for m_s/hat{m} and 3L_7+L^r_8.
We revisit a recently proposed scale invariant extension of the standard model, in which the scalar bi-linear condensate in a strongly interacting hidden sector dynamically breaks scale symmetry, thereby triggering electroweak symmetry breaking. Relaxing the previously made assumption on $U(N_f)$ flavor symmetry we find that the presence of the would-be dark matter candidate opens a new annihilation process of dark matter at finite temperature, such that the model can satisfy stringent constraints of the future experiments of the dark matter direct detection.
Higgs sector extensions beyond the Standard Model (BSM) provide additional sources of CP violation and further scalar states that help to trigger a strong first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) required to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe through electroweak baryogenesis. We investigate the CP-violating 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (C2HDM) and the Next-to-Minimal 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (N2HDM) with respect to their potential to generate an SFOEWPT while being compatible with all relevant and recent theoretical and experimental constraints. The implications of an SFOEWPT on the collider phenomenology of the two models are analysed in detail in particular with respect to Higgs pair production. We provide benchmark points for parameter points that are compatible with an SFOEWPT and provide distinct di-Higgs signatures.
