In the framework of the Standard Model the mass of the physical Higgs boson is an arbitrary parameter. In this note we examine whether it is possible to determine the ratio of $m_H /M$, where $M$ denotes any other mass in the theory, such as the $W$ or the $Z$-boson mass. We show that no such relation can be stable under renormalisation.

As one of the key properties of the Higgs boson, the Higgs total width is sensitive to global profile of the Higgs boson couplings, and thus new physics would modify the Higgs width. We investigate the total width in various new physics models, including various scalar extension, composite Higgs models, and fraternal twin Higgs model. Typically the Higgs width is smaller than the standard model value due to mixture with other scalar if the Higgs is elementary, or curved Higgs field space for the composite Higgs. On the other hand, except the possible invisible decay mode, the enhanced Yukawa coupling in the two Higgs doublet model or the exotic fermion embeddings in the composite Higgs, could enhance the Higgs width greatly. The precision measurement of the Higgs total width at the high-luminosity LHC can be used to discriminate certain new physics models.
Using the perturbative QCD amplitudes for $Bto pipi$ and $Bto Kpi$, we have performed an extensive study of the parameter space where the theoretical predictions for the branching ratios are consistent with recent experimental data. From this allowed range of parameter space, we predict the mixing induced CP asymmetry for $B to pi^+pi^-$ with about 11% uncertainty and the other CP asymmetries for $Bto pipi$, $Kpi$ with 40% ~ 47% uncertainty. These errors are expected to be reduced as we restrict the parameter space by studying other decay modes and by further improvements in the experimental data.
In the next-to minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) one additional singlet-like Higgs boson with small couplings to standard model (SM) particles is introduced. Although the mass can be well below the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson mass its small couplings may make a discovery at the LHC difficult. We use a novel scanning technique to efficiently scan the whole parameter space and determine the range of cross sections and branching ratios for the light singlet-like Higgs boson below 125 GeV. This allows to determine the perspectives for the future discovery potential at the LHC. Specific LHC benchmark points are selected representing the salient NMSSM features.
Deciding which scripts to turn into movies is a costly and time-consuming process for filmmakers. Thus, building a tool to aid script selection, an initial phase in movie production, can be very beneficial. Toward that goal, in this work, we present a method to evaluate the quality of a screenplay based on linguistic cues. We address this in a two-fold approach: (1) we define the task as predicting nominations of scripts at major film awards with the hypothesis that the peer-recognized scripts should have a greater chance to succeed. (2) based on industry opinions and narratology, we extract and integrate domain-specific features into common classification techniques. We face two challenges (1) scripts are much longer than other document datasets (2) nominated scripts are limited and thus difficult to collect. However, with narratology-inspired modeling and domain features, our approach offers clear improvements over strong baselines. Our work provides a new approach for future work in screenplay analysis.
Inspired by the discovery of a doubly charmed tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ by the LHCb Collaboration and based on the prediction of a doubly charmed $DD^{ast}$ molecule with $I(J^{P})=0(1^{+})$ in our recent works, [Phys.Rev.D 102 (2020), 091502] and [Phys.Rev.D 99 (2019), 094018], we employ the effective Lagrangian approach to investigate the decay width of $T_{cc}to D Dpi$ and $T_{cc}to DDgamma$. We show that both the $T_{cc}to D Dpi$ and $T_{cc}to DDgamma$ modes contribute to the decay width of $T_{cc}$, with the former playing a more important role. However, within the $DD^*$ molecule picture, the obtained decay width is rather small compared with the experimental value of $Gamma=410pm175$ keV. We argue that the existence of a compact tetraquark component cannot lead to an appreciable increase of the decay width. As a result, the discrepancy may indicate that either $T_{cc}$ is more likely a near threshold $DD^*$ resonance or the decay width is close to the lower experimental boundary.
