Top quark pair production by (polarized) gamma gamma collisions offers an interesting testing ground of the Standard Model and its extensions. In this Letter we present results for differential cross sections of top quark pair production and decay including QCD radiative corrections. We take into account the full dependence on the top quark spins. We give analytic and numerical results for single and double differential angular distributions of t tbar decay products which are due to top quark polarizations and spin correlations in the intermediate state.
In ongoing and upcoming hadron collider experiments, top quark physics will play an important role in testing the Standard Model and its possible extensions. In this work we present analytic results for the differential cross sections of top quark pair production in hadronic collisions at next-to-leading order in the QCD coupling, keeping the full dependence on the spins of the top quarks. These results are combined with the corresponding next-to-leading order results for the decay of polarized top quarks into dilepton, lepton plus jets, and all jets final states. As an application we predict double differential angular distributions which are due to the QCD-induced top quark spin correlations in the intermediate state. In addition to the analytic results, we give numerical results in terms of fit functions that can easily be used in an experimental analysis.
We study pair production of scalar top quarks in polarized photon-photon collisions with the subsequent decay of the top squarks into b-quarks and charginos. We simulate this process by using PYTHIA6.4 for an electron beam energy 2E_beam =1000 GeV. A set of criteria for physical variables is proposed which leads to a good separation of stop signal events from top quark pair production being the main background. These criteria allow us to reconstruct the mass of the top squark provided that the neutralino mass is known.
We present results for the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the production and semi-leptonic decays of a top quark pair in hadron collisions, retaining all spin correlations. To evaluate the virtual corrections, we employ generalized D-dimensional unitarity. The computation is implemented in a numerical program which allows detailed studies of ttbar-related observables at the Tevatron and the LHC.
A Monte-Carlo analysis on production and decay of supersymmetric charginos at a future photon-collider is presented. A photon collider offers the possibility of a direct branching-ratio measurement. In this study, the process gamma, gamma -> chi_1^+,chi_1^- -> W+W-chi_1^0chi_1^0 -> 4-jets,chi_1^0chi_1^0 has been considered for a specific mSUGRA scenario. Various backgrounds and parameterised detector simulation have been included. Depending on the centre-of-mass energy, a statistical error for the directly measurable branching ratio BR(chi}_1^+ ->chi}_1^0 W^+) of up to 3.5% can be reached.
Angular distributions of a mu+ and a b-quark resulting from the decay of a top quark produced at the e+e- linear collider with an unpolarized and a 100% longitudinally polarized electron beam are presented. The results of the standard model are compared with the results obtained in the presence of the anomalous Wtb coupling.
