We present a method to discriminate instanton-induced processes from standard DIS background based on Range Searching. This method offers fast and automatic scanning of a large number of variables for a combination of variables giving high signal to background ratio and the smallest theoretical and experimental uncertainties.

We present a fast and transparent multi-variate event classification technique, called PDE-RS, which is based on sampling the signal and background densities in a multi-dimensional phase space using range-searching. The employed algorithm is presented in detail and its behaviour is studied with simple toy examples representing basic patterns of problems often encountered in High Energy Physics data analyses. In addition an example relevant for the search for instanton-induced processes in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA is discussed. For all studied examples, the new presented method performs as good as artificial Neural Networks and has furthermore the advantage to need less computation time. This allows to carefully select the best combination of observables which optimally separate the signal and background and for which the simulations describe the data best. Moreover, the systematic and statistical uncertainties can be easily evaluated. The method is therefore a powerful tool to find a small number of signal events in the large data samples expected at future particle colliders.

Signals of QCD instanton-induced processes are searched for in neutral current deep-inelastic scattering at the electron-proton collider HERA in the kinematic region defined by the Bjorken-scaling variable $x > 10^{-3}$, the inelasticity $0.2< y < 0.7$ and the photon virtuality $150 < Q^2 < 15000$ GeV$^2$. The search is performed using H1 data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ~$351$ pb$^{-1}$. No evidence for the production of QCD instanton-induced events is observed. Upper limits on the cross section for instanton-induced processes between $1.5$~pb and $6$~pb, at $95%$~ confidence level, are obtained depending on the kinematic domain in which instantons could be produced. Compared to earlier publications, the limits are improved by an order of magnitude and for the first time are challenging theory predictions.

An increased precision of HERA data allows studies of exclusive processes in their transition from soft to hard interactions as well as in the pQCD domain. The recent measurements of vector meson production and Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) performed by the H1 and ZEUS experiments are reported and compared to pQCD expectations.
When several sparticle masses are known, the kinematics of SUSY decay processes observed at the LHC can be solved if the cascade decays contain sufficient steps. We demonstrate four examples of this full reconstruction technique applied to channels involving leptons, namely a) gluino mass determination, b) sbottom mass determination, c) LSP momentum reconstruction, and d) heavy higgs mass determination.
Vectorlike quarks have been shown to resolve certain long-standing discrepancies pertaining to the bottom sector. We investigate, here, the prospects of identifying the existence of a topless vectorlike doublet $(B,~Y)$, as is preferred by the electroweak precision measurements. Concentrating on single production, $viz.$ $B bar b$ with $B to b + Z/H$ subsequently, we find that the fully hadronic decay-channel is susceptible to discovery provided jet substructure observables are used. At the 13 TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$, a modest value of the chromomagnetic transition moments allows for the exclusion of $M lesssim 1.8(2.2)$ TeV in the $Z$ and $H$ channels respectively.
