We report the results of a search for the rare baryonic decay modes B -> Lambda Lambdabar, B -> Lambdabar p, B -> Lambdabar p pi, and B -> p pbar using 5.8M BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector. We see no statistically significant signals in any of these modes and set 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions, B(B -> Lambda Lambdabar) < 3.9 times 10^{-6}, B(B -> Lambdabar p) < 2.6 times 10^{-6}, B(B -> Lambdabar p pi) < 1.3 times 10^{-5}, and B(B -> p pbar) < 7.0 times 10^{-6}.
We present results from a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decays $Bto Kell^+ell^-$ and $Bto K^*ell^+ell^-$, where $ell^+ell^-$ is either an $e^+e^-$ or $mu^+mu^-$ pair. The data sample comprises $22.7times 10^6$ $Upsilon(4S)to Bbar B$ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $B$ Factory. We obtain the 90% C.L. upper limits ${mathcal B}(Bto Kell^+ell^-)< 0.50times 10^{-6}$ and ${mathcal B}(Bto K^*ell^+ell^-)<2.9times 10^{-6}$, close to Standard Model predictions for these branching fractions. We have also obtained limits on the lepton-family-violating decays $Bto Ke^{pm}mu^{mp}$ and $Bto K^{*}e^{pm}mu^{mp}$.
Using a sample of 2.59 times 10^7 psi(2S) decays collected by the CLEO--c detector, we present results of a study of chi_{cJ} (J=0,1,2) decays into baryon-antibaryon final states. We present the worlds most precise measurements of the chi_cJ -> p-pbar and chi_cJ -> Lambda-Lambdabar branching fractions, and the first measurements of chi_c0 decays to other hyperons. These results illuminate the decay mechanism of the chi_c states.
Rare hadronic B-meson decays allow us to study CP violation. The class of B decays final states containing two vector mesons provides a rich set of angular correlation observables to study. This article reviews some of the recent experimental results from the BaBar and Belle collaborations.
Rare decays of b-hadrons provide high sensitivity to New Physics effects. Several deviations with respect to the Standard Model predictions have been observed in recent years, leading to significant tensions in global fit analyses. It is thus crucial to update the existing measurements and study new decay modes to confirm the pattern. The latest results from LHCb and Belle on radiative, semileptonic penguin, lepton universality and lepton flavour violation decays are presented.
A search for the decays $B^0_sto e^+e^-$ and $B^0to e^+e^-$ is performed using data collected with the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of $7$, $8$ and $13,text{TeV}$, corresponding to integrated luminosities of $1$, $2$ and $2,text{fb}^{-1}$, respectively. No signal is observed. Assuming no contribution from $B^0to e^+e^-$ decays, an upper limit of $mathcal{B}(B^0_sto e^+e^-)<9.4,(11.2)times10^{-9}$ is obtained at $90,(95),%$ confidence level. If no $B^0_sto e^+e^-$ contribution is assumed, a limit of $mathcal{B}(B^0to e^+e^-)<2.5,(3.0)times10^{-9}$ is determined at $90,(95),%$ confidence level. These upper limits are more than one order of magnitude lower than the previous values.
