The quantity P_{mu}^{pi}xi, where xi is one of the muon decay parameters and $P_{mu}^{pi}$ is the degree of muon polarization in pion decay, has been measured. The value P_{mu}^{pi}xi = 1.0003 +- 0.0006 stat. +- 0.0038 syst. was obtained. This result agrees with previous measurements but is over a factor of two more precise. It also agrees with the Standard Model prediction for P_{mu}^{pi}xi and thus leads to restrictions on left-right symmetric models.

We present a new high precision measurement of parity violation in the weak interaction, using polarized muon decay. The TWIST collaboration has measured $P_mu^pi xi$, where $P_mu^pi$ is the polarization of the muon in pion decay and $xi$ describes the intrinsic asymmetry in muon decay. We find $P_mu^pi xi = 1.00084 pm 0.00029,(textrm{stat.})_{-0.00063}^{+0.00165},(textrm{syst.})$, in good agreement with the standard model prediction of $P_mu^pi=xi=1$. Our result is a factor of 7 more precise than the pre-TWIST value, setting new limits in left-right symmetric electroweak extensions to the standard model.
The Michel parameter xi has been determined from a measurement of the longitudinal polarization of positrons emitted in the decay of polarized and depolarized muons. The result, xi = 0.981 +- 0.045stat +- 0.003syst, is consistent with the Standard Model prediction of unity, and provides an order of magnitude improvement in the relative precision of this parameter. This value sets new constraints on exotic couplings beyond the dominant V-A description of the leptonic weak interaction.
From the 2002 data taking with a neutral kaon beam extracted from the CERN-SPS, the NA48/1 experiment observed 97 $Xi^{0}rightarrow Sigma^{+} mu^{-} bar{ u}_{mu}$ candidates with a background contamination of $30.8 pm 4.2$ events. From this sample, the BR($Xi^{0}rightarrow Sigma^{+} mu^{-} bar{ u}_{mu}$) is measured to be $(2.17 pm 0.32_{mathrm{stat}}pm 0.17_{mathrm{syst}})times10^{-6}$.
The process e^+e^- ->mu^+mu^- has been studied with SND detector at VEPP-2M e^+e^- collider in the vicinity of phi(1020) resonance. The product of branching ratios of phi meson into leptons sqrt{B(phi->mu^+mu^-) B(phi-> e^+e^-)}=(3.14+-0.22+-0.14)x10^{-4} was measured from the interference in the cross section of the process e^+e^- ->mu^+mu^-. The branching ratio B(phi->mu^+mu^-)=(3.30+-0.45+-0.32)x10^{-4} was obtained.
A sensitive search for the lepton-number-violating decay $Xi^-to p mu^-mu^-$ has been performed using a sample of $sim10^9$ $Xi^-$ hyperons produced in 800 GeV/$c$ $p$-Cu collisions. We obtain $mathcal{B}(Xi^-to p mu^-mu^-)< 4.0times 10^{-8}$ at 90% confidence, improving on the best previous limit by four orders of magnitude.
