Fundamental Casimir-Onsager symmetry rules for linear response do not apply to non linear transport. This motivates the investigation of nonlinear dc conductance of mesoscopic GaAs/GaAlAs rings in a 2 wire configuration. The second order current response to a potential bias is of particular interest. It is related to the sensitivity of conductance fluctuations to this bias and contains information on electron interactions not included in the linear response. In contrast with the linear response which is a symmetric function of magnetic field we find that this second order response exhibits a field dependence which contains an antisymmetric part. We analyse the flux periodic and aperiodic components of this asymmetry and find that they only depend on the conductance of the rings which is varied by more than an order of magnitude. These results are in good agreement with recent theoretical predictions relating this asymmetric response to the electron interactions.

We propose a theoretical model to study the single-electron spectra of the concentric quantum double ring fabricated lately by self-assembled technique. Exact diagonalization method is employed to examine the Aharonov-Bohm effect in the concentric double ring. It is found the appearance of the AB oscillation in total energy depends on the strength of the screened potential. Variations of the energy spectra with the presence of coulomb impurities located at inner or outer ring are also investigated.

We study the time-dependent transport of charge and spin through a ring-shaped region sequentially coupled to a weakly interacting quantum dot in the presence of an Aharonov-Bohm flux and spin-orbit interaction. The time-dependent modulation of the spin-orbit interaction, or of the corresponding Aharonov-Casher flux, together with the modulation of the dot-level induces an electrically pumped spin current even in absence of a charge current. The results beyond the adiabatic regime show that an additional rectification current proportional to cos(phi), being phi the relative phase between the time varying parameters, is generated. We discuss the relevance of such term in connection with recent experiments on out-of-equilibrium quantum dots.
We analyze theoretically the electronic properties of Aharonov-Bohm rings made of graphene. We show that the combined effect of the ring confinement and applied magnetic flux offers a controllable way to lift the orbital degeneracy originating from the two valleys, even in the absence of intervalley scattering. The phenomenon has observable consequences on the persistent current circulating around the closed graphene ring, as well as on the ring conductance. We explicitly confirm this prediction analytically for a circular ring with a smooth boundary modelled by a space-dependent mass term in the Dirac equation. This model describes rings with zero or weak intervalley scattering so that the valley isospin is a good quantum number. The tunable breaking of the valley degeneracy by the flux allows for the controlled manipulation of valley isospins. We compare our analytical model to another type of ring with strong intervalley scattering. For the latter case, we study a ring of hexagonal form with lattice-terminated zigzag edges numerically. We find for the hexagonal ring that the orbital degeneracy can still be controlled via the flux, similar to the ring with the mass confinement.
Investigation of real two-dimensional systems with Dirac-like electronic behavior under the influence of magnetic field is challenging and leads to many interesting physical results. In this paper we study 2D graphene model with a particular form of magnetic field as a superposition of a homogeneous field and an Aharonov-Bohm vortex. For this configuration, electronic wave functions and energy spectrum were obtained and it was shown that the magnetic Aharonov-Bohm vortex plays the role of a charge impurity. As a demonstration of vacuum properties of the system, vacuum current, as well as an electric current, is calculated and their representation for particular limiting cases of magnetic field is obtained.
We investigate conductance fluctuations as a function of carrier density $n$ and magnetic field in diffusive mesoscopic samples made from monolayer and bilayer graphene. We show that the fluctuations correlation energy and field, which are functions of the diffusion coefficient, have fundamentally different variations with $n$, illustrating the contrast between massive and massless carriers. The field dependent fluctuations are nearly independent of $n$, but the $n$-dependent fluctuations are not universal and are largest at the charge neutrality point. We also measure the second order conductance fluctuations (mesoscopic rectification). Its field asymmetry, due to electron-electron interaction, decays with conductance, as predicted for diffusive systems.
